Motorola videos show its new Android 4.0 skin

0. phoneArena 27 May 2012, 01:54 posted on

Motoblur no longer exists, so Motorola is going to have to come up with a new name for the skin it plans on using to run over its Android 4.0 powered handsets; it does have a resemblance to stock Android with a few changes such as an updated lock screen...

Hardly any manufacturers update devices over a year old. Sometimes, if it's to update to the newest version of Android, but that's about it. Motorola seems to be one of the better with updates. They updated the Droid 3 and Droid X2 not too long ago, though it didn't have ICS because of the devices lack of RAM. They fixed a lot of bugs, and tried to make the experience as good as possible for the people who own those phones since they wouldn't be getting ICS. Personally, I would rather have a device that runs Gingerbread seamlessly than one that has ICS with bugs. Motorola is aiming towards Gingerbread with no bugs on older devices because they know if they put ICS on them they wouldn't be giving their consumers the best experience possible.

this is as good if not better than stock
i love stock but i hate the icons
this is perfect! recently the only thing i liked about motoblur was the icons
now once moto decides to unlock the bootloaders, my next phone WILL be a motorola phone!

Moto unlocks the boot loaders on most of their devices, it's the carriers fault that they are locked.

I am all for screwing with my phone, if I feeling is lacking in an area, but the RAZR has been perfect so far, and given me no reason to.

since you have already tried the ICS on the razr, are we gonna have the wireless, silent, rotate,gps...etc toggles on the notification bar after the update, just like the ones that come with the samsung galaxy?
waiting your response, have a nice day

no, there will be no such toggles. the closest you'll get to that functionality being baked in is by hitting the settings icon at the top of the notification bar and most of the toggles will be right there at the top of the settings menu.

I agree that moto is milking it, it is taking them soooo long to release a lightly modified version of ICS? WTF!!! If they had a heavily modified skin would understand but they didnt do much!

This is as good as it can get, I don't worry about the icons, color schemes until the user experience is good. After watching this, it's hard for me to wait another 2-3 months for ICS update on my Atrix 2., and hope Motorola fulfills the promise..
