ya this is what sucks about buying android from verizon/tmobile… there is literally a better phone every month… at least sprint and att let you feel like youve had ur phone for a little while before a better one comes out…

I don't know how I feel about that statement. That seems to be one of the biggest complaints I read about on PhoneArena... Android coming out with too many phones.

There are two ways to look at this:

1. It is absolutely terrible that the "new" phone I just bought is no longer "new".

2. INNOVATION IS INCREDIBLE.

Me, I like innovation. More than I like being the dude with the "new" phone. To each his own.

Its not just about being the guy with the "new" phone. It's also about getting your money's worth. If you pay $300 dollars for a phone, you want it to be the best damn thing out there for that price. Yet in two months a much better phone comes out. Feels like you're being scammed because there's no way you can get that new one.

Exactly. The idea behind being an "early adopter" is that you get to enjoy the product for a significantly longer time than those who wait. If a superior product comes along 6 weeks later, you didn't have long to benefit.

I understand what you are both saying, but what I do not understand is this:

If your definition of "benefit" is that you get to enjoy the product "for a significantly longer time than those who wait" then you very much do want to be "the dude with the new phone".

If your definition of "benefit" is that you get to enjoy the features of the phone, then that benefit only expires when you decide you want more features.

You cannot blame innovation for the fact that you are not satisfied unless you have "the best".

Welcome to the world of technology. This happens with everything. Cars, boats, motorcycles, bicycles, skateboards, toys, washing machines, refrigerators, microwaves, computers, stoves, ovens, vacuums, mobile phones......etc! This is the nature of the tech beast. Just get what you like because if you keep waiting you will never get anything! I love the innovation & the way I see it is, that when I get a new phone in June of 2012 there will be stuff out then that will make today’s phones look like little toys. Can you say quad-core phones in June of 2012? I know I can! lol I agree with iamcc!

Also, I just bought a VW Jetta in April. It was brand new. I am already seeing commercials for other cars with more features for the same or less money.

Am I upset about my purchase? No.
Am I jealous of the people who buy cars today and have more features than my 2011 Jetta? Maybe.
Am I being SCAMMED? No.
Do I live in a ever-changing ever-improving world where technology is constantly improving? Yes!

That was my whole point. Let's just put it this way, in 2007 I bought a 2499 square foot home for 157,000 dollars. It was brand new & I saw it get built. Today you can get the same size home with better appliances, & the house will be energy star certified, has hardwood floors, & granite countertops all included at the same price I paid. I had to add all that stuff after market. Am I mad no, but it shows how things advance & technology is greatly improving. & by this I mean the energy star certification & the new appliances. That tech can save you thousands on your energy bill throughout the life time of the home.

Dear Motorola Mobility,
Please stop putting out a new garbage droid every week, that is so minutely better then the last. You flood the market with nearly identical droids and devalue your own products. As much as I hate apple's marketing concepts, at least they understand how long it takes to create a NEW product and test it properly before release. Hey phonearena!, whats the release date for the Droid 18?

Agreed. I want to like Moto, but the Bionic took so long to get right that we were seeing leaked Razrs before the Bionic even hit shelves. How are they going to justify selling the two phones side by side? With SAMOLED and a thinner profile, doesn't this obsolete the Bionic?

I think the issue here is that they have a product path.. and the Bionic really screwed things up.

They had planned to introduce the Bionic back in Q1.. with this new Razr coming in Nov.. not a bad road map. Now that the Bionic got pushed so far back, it looks bad to have 2 devices released so close together.

all I can say is WOW.. I'm SOOOOO glad I waited!!!

But I thought the plan was to release the Etna Bionic last spring, then the Targa Bionic (or whatever they were planning to call it) for the holiday season. Maybe the Razr was planned for next spring but they realized phones like the Vigor and Prime were going to leap-frog them and pushed it up the schedule. Either way, I think it looks bad for them to push out two premium LTE Droids on top of each other.

I don't care what they're announcing. Someone on their marketing team finally did a kickass job. I am pleased.

And to the others here: I prefer that Moto get back on its feet quickly and hop a little ahead of the competition instead of sitting on the Bionic longer. Esp. Since it'll probably mean a price drop for the Bionic so we'll have two tiers of dual core LTE phones on Verizon.

...thus feeding into the resident fanboys' claims that the prices of premium Android devices plummet in a matter of weeks.

I'm just glad I didn't buy a Bionic last month when I had the chance.

Well actually, to be fair, I'd rather see a phone drop in price in a matter of weeks because something better at the same price just came along than watch another phone not drop in price for SIXTEEN MONTHS despite many other phones better than it get released at the same price.

I mean, apart from the camera and perhaps the GPU (which doesn't make a difference because my phone runs really well anyway) my 100 buck Atrix has exactly the same specs as the 200 buck iPhone 4S, with the added benefit of an SD card slot. And a bigger screen. And okay, the resolution technically isn't as good, but even pentile qHD works well for me.

Technology marches on. The price of all old tech falls as new tech is introduced. The Bionic was an aberration - Tegra didnn't play nice with LTE - but Moto had a ton of money already invested in development. It makes perfect sense to recover some of that investment. Besides, what does Verizon have now that compares? If it has a shorter life, so what? I hardly think that anyone who currently owns a Bionic (other than some on this site that always want the latest) will be upset. The specs on the Bionic are similar to iPhone 4S and perfectly capable of two years of use. Once the RAZR is introduced, the price of the Bionic will drop. Imagine that it goes to $149? Who's going to complain about dual core goodnesss at that price?

Ok motorola...fix your past problems first..gb problems on all of your phones that have received it as an ota. Fix the bionic problems before you find yourself like you were before the original droid revived and saved your company...i want even look at another motorola product....i own the d3 and bionic and they both need work...the d3 received a ota the other day but could use another one for the buggy camera software. This is what i dont like about fragmentation..but buying a iphone will only take me further away from specs and features. Really cant wait until microsoft gets it act together with wp7

Other than being thinner than the bionic i really dont know what motorola and verizon have planned with this. Specs are similiar. U want notice the difference in a 1.5 or 1.2 proceesor speed vice what the bionic has 1.0 ghz dual core. So if thin is in then i guess this is your wish...i see motorola is working on d4. Big dif is lte but most users are gonna go with the bionic or razor and not the heavy beast d3 or D4 regardless of full qwerty

There are many possibilities, it could be the razr, or The Atrix 2 which has had more leaked pictures than the razr, and both were leaked around the same time, maybe its both who knows. I personally think it shouldn't be the atrix 2, since the original Atrix is still a super phone, and it still doesn't have a year out.

I love android , but I hate all manufacturers, why don't they realize that to really compete with iphone they need to make something really good , not just make it sound good, motorola has released the droid x2, droid3, droid bionic and now droid razr all for Verizon all this year, Instead of making so many many devices , why don't they put all their money, time and research on 2 devices per year, 2 well done devices with the latest software and hardware.
That would be awesome

I look at it as Apple forces you to like one thing and one thing only. Take it or leave it. The other manufactures try to give you different form factors to please you. Apples approach will work will as long as they provide superior performance and quality, but I am afraid that is coming to an end. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple begins to offer different form factors once everyone catches up totally in a year or two....

Yes, but by applying all their research, ideas and money on 1 device per year Apple delivers well done devices, I love Android but let's be honest how long does it take for android to start giving problems 1 year maybe 1.5. I have see so many people using iphone 3, but not many using droid 1, and if there are, I'll bet they had have bunch of problems with it.
Beside Apple is only one company, android is produce by LG,SAMSUNG,MOTOROLA and HTC, if they would produce 2 device per year , you would still have 8 phones to choose from. 8 really good phones that would last 2.5 maybe 3 years without having problems.
and none of us would feel cheated from buying an android that 6 months latter becomes discontinue.
