Motorola makes fun of getting #iLost

0. phoneArena posted on 22 Sep 2012, 12:52

Back in 2010 after the release of the Apple iPhone 4 revealed a flawed antenna design and introduced Abtennagate and the Left-handed death grip to the cellular world, Motorola was quick to poke fun at Apple; the manufacturer is once again quick to respond to the problems with Apple's new mapping application...

"iPhone 5. No daily rebooting required."

How many days you have used it?

22. rasinhussy posted on 22 Sep 2012, 13:55

I just assume that the 5 will have the same reliability that the 3g/4/4s have had.

28. PhoneArenaUser posted on 22 Sep 2012, 14:07 6

Assumptions is not the same thing as a facts. ;)

Also talking about the stability, remember that statistics says that iOS apps tends to crash three times more than Android apps (at least it was till iOS 6 since your opinion was based on the past).

Statistics or a "study" done by Crittercism which is heavily funded by Google Ventures.

Any proves ?

So what, that doesn't prove nothing!
You only see the part about Google Ventures but you miss (or just ignoring) the part about Bob Borchers.

So what's the harm in doing a daily reboot even if Android phones need. When nothing is running reboots aren't needed in any case ...

21. Berzerk000 posted on 22 Sep 2012, 13:54 3

Which Motorola did you have? I haven't heard about any problems from any of my friends with Motorola. That includes the Droid X and X2, the Razr, Droid 2 and Droid 3. (Yes, a lot of my friends are on Verizon) One of them doesn't even want to give up her Droid X because she likes it so much. I doubt the legitimacy of your comment.

I'll agree about the camera though, Moto's cameras need work.

25. rasinhussy posted on 22 Sep 2012, 13:59

I do agree the X was a solid device after rooting it and a custom rom. I've had the Original Droid/2/3 and have always had the same issues requiring a reboot, because the phones would just come to a crawl and nothing could get done.

32. Berzerk000 posted on 22 Sep 2012, 14:26 1

Like I said, I haven't heard any bad things from the people I know who own those devices (though I don't know anyone who owned the original Droid). And when I used them myself they weren't too bad, they're not as snappy as my GS2, but certainly bearable; and they said they never needed a reboot.

Anyways, you shouldn't base your arguments on old devices. I certainly haven't heard of anything bad about performance from Motorola devices from anyone except for you. Also, as another PA follower (KingKurogiii) can attest to, all of Moto's devices following the introduction of the Droid Razr are pretty great thanks to their new stock-like UI and very capable hardware.

37. protozeloz posted on 22 Sep 2012, 14:55 1

sorry I rarely need to reboot....

73. jroc74 posted on 23 Sep 2012, 06:59 1

Will agree with the camera.

The rebooting.....that one will have to disagree on. My Droid X1 did have that problem when listening to music. Havent had any daily rebooting issues since getting the RAZR in Nov 2011.

I actually didnt have that problem with my Droid 1 I got Mar 2010. The rebooting problems were probably certain Moto Android phones. And they eventually got fixed. Like this Apple Maps app will....eventually.

Why companies doesn't make fun of each other just of Apple? Because it is not without a reason! ;)

16. pandambaba posted on 22 Sep 2012, 13:46 2

the only thing that samsung and motorola are doing is bringing more attention to the iphone. you can't put an okay looking phone next to a great looking one and expect people not to be interested in the more attractive one lol

18. Angkor posted on 22 Sep 2012, 13:50

Apple started lawsuits now every companies wanted a piece of Apple pie $100+ billion cash in hand.

20. ryq24 posted on 22 Sep 2012, 13:54 1

motorola's first attempt at making fun of iphone antenna problem obviously did not work. now they are trying again. good luck! if it work it will benefit samsung not motorola.

74. jroc74 posted on 23 Sep 2012, 07:03 1

Oh it worked......you must not remember the lame attempt by Apple trying to show other phones had the same issue.

Other phones had a Death Grip....the iPhone 4 had a Death Touch...lol. But it wasnt all Moto, lost of negative press and info caused Apple to strike back.

And Apple did give away free bumpers and redesigned the iPhone 4 antenna going forward.

88. CRICKETownz posted on 23 Sep 2012, 21:49

I'm gonna take a guess here, though it may have sparked a little comedy, Moto's poking did not work about the antenna-gate issue as sales continued to move forward. Also the fact that the later Verizon/Sprint versions didn't experience this took the thunder from what Moto was trying to do. I would take an iPhone over the likes of a Droid X which was the phone of that time.

91. jroc74 posted on 24 Sep 2012, 00:26

Remember Apple gave away free bumpers?

When the iPhone was released on Sprint and Verizon.....Apple redesigned the antenna a lil.

Thats why it wasnt as bad as the iPhone 4 when it launched on AT&T. Not saying Moto alone caused those things...but Moto's poking along with the bad press Apple were getting caused the changes, bumper give aways.

I wasnt talking so much about sales....but about how Apple responded.

23. pandambaba posted on 22 Sep 2012, 13:56

oh, and when is motorola gonna release an annually exclusive phone? they release a new one every month with an even more random name lol

75. jroc74 posted on 23 Sep 2012, 07:04 1

No Android manufacture has done that.....so why should Moto? It would be nice....but still.

84. pandambaba posted on 23 Sep 2012, 15:58

really? so samsung never releases the galaxy s series and a galaxy note once a year? and google never has a nexus every year? those phones are annually exclusive.. and android so..

86. jroc74 posted on 23 Sep 2012, 20:14

Well if thats the case...the orig Droid series is annually exclusive.

The Droid X series also falls into those Samsung release timelines....maybe off by a few months.

And Google doesnt make Nexus phones. A Nexus phone would still be an LG or Samsung or HTC or ect. phone.

92. pandambaba posted on 24 Sep 2012, 01:07

i never said google makes them, but they release them as their flagship phone which they are smart to do so. and Motorola doesn't seem to realize that no one can really keep up with all the phones that they release, therefore, they are becoming less exclusive and desirable. that's all i was trying to say.

24. shamatuu posted on 22 Sep 2012, 13:56 2

Now Motorola is joining the itrain also . Great! now waiting on LG , Sony and HTC. They really deserve it after all.

27. Danre posted on 22 Sep 2012, 14:05 4

This is a good chance for iPhone user to earn some money.

When you get lost because of apple map then you have to sue apple and earn handsome amount of money.

This is apple new way to find most intelligent i$**p

I remember how Nokia was making fun of iPhone a.k.a. "Beta Phones" in Lumia 900 Campaign. :D

38. rymo2811 posted on 22 Sep 2012, 14:58

Motorola has NO room to talk. They're seriously trying to make fun of issues with phones? I work for VZW tech, the phones that have the MOST problems compared to any other device are Moto Droids. Power cycling, random panel movement, loss of data connectivity, continuous Force Close errors, it goes on and on. Difference is, Moto takes forever to release updates for their devices, like when the Bionic dropped. People had the phone for a month and were told "sorry, that's a known software issue, here have a refurb OR you can wait for an update in 4 months". Apple will address this issue, and get it fixed. F*** you motorola, you can't even keep your own phones functioning properly!

76. jroc74 posted on 23 Sep 2012, 07:07 1

Really.....most problems? All I will say about that is....Galaxy Nexus.

I seriously doubt that if their phones were so bad....they would be among the best sellers.

No Android phone is problem free. Moto cant hit a hoe run every time at bat. They kinda struck out with the Bionic....but hit a home run with the RAZR. Samsung.....struck out with the G Nex....but hit a home run with the GS2 and GS3.

40. Kronic (banned) posted on 22 Sep 2012, 15:25

The iPhone 5 is a lot faster than razr M. About maps- google will release google maps and apple will fix their maps app soon. Therefore iPhone 5 ( fastest phone on earth right now) > razr M

41. theBankRobber posted on 22 Sep 2012, 15:37 3

Still don't find it better then my Motorola Photon, just because they made it a lil faster and added .5" more screen doesn't make it a better phone. Still the same crappy boring OS as before and your still locked into apples web of features and uses for the device.

50. PhoneArenaUser posted on 22 Sep 2012, 16:50 1

"fastest phone on earth right now"

Are you sure? What about LG Optimus G ?

77. jroc74 posted on 23 Sep 2012, 07:12

I think because C Net gave it that title. And really, thats great. Good for Apple. He did cover his self and say right now....lol.

The fact that the iPhone 5 cant do simultaneous talk and data like....every other LTE phone in existence.....is a fail. I mean the iPhone 4S and older could and they werent LTE. I wonder if Apple got rid of being able to do it over 3G with GSM phones. If they did......more fail. The iPhone 5 on AT&T will let us know...

I am curious about the Optimus G too..I thought that thing was a beast?

57. MrWilli5 posted on 22 Sep 2012, 18:04 1

BlackBerry = best device for music, phone calls, text, emails and casual web surfing (mobile versions of web sites are readily available); requires some thinking to get to do what you need, but once you get a hold of it, everything flies.

iPhone = simple user interface, great for people who just want a simple, easy to use device without much critical thinking; good to keep the kids busy.

Android = good platform, but OS is way too fragmented; there are thousands of variations of the OS, every manuf has their own customized version of Android for various product lines; not as user friendly as iOS, but pretty much does the same exact thing as iOS (different ways of doing it)

If you must do a comparison, at least pick 2 IDENTICAL phones, ie same processor speed, same imaging technology, same build quality/materials .. ie SAME SPECS.

I've used iPhones, Android devices and Blackberry's. Got iPads and iPod Touch's as well. When it comes to an "everything" device, I always go to my Blackberry Bold 9930. I'm a do-er!! lol
