Motorola introduces 3G indoor access point

Motorola, Corp. has introduced its new High Speed Access Point - Motorola AXPT, specially designed to expand the reach of 3G networks inside buildings. It allows users to stay on one network when using a 3G-enabled device without having to switch to alternative either fixed or wireless broadband services while indoors. The AXPT can be used both with UMTS and HSDPA devices. Trials worldwide have showed that applications such as email, video streaming and music downloads can be delivered over Motorola AXPT at speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps. The Motorola AXPT is planned to be offered by cellular operators to businesses. The company did not reveal when the access point is expected to be available, but stated that it will be demonstrated at 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, in February.
