wow that is a great shot made by the DROID X marketing team...kudos to that stab at the crapple device and the guts to state plain and bold that droid is better.

I would not say great shot... That is the pansy way of marketing. Why dont you be creative and think outside the box. Attacking another product shows a huge lack of creativity.

This is a great ad on Verizon and Motorola's part. I love it, but Verizon will not gain any sales from the iphone off of this, nor with the Droid X come close to iphone sales. As for Motorola, they better hope Verizon never gets the iphone because they will be laying people off!

@JDOC611 STFU LOL and suing other company cause they made something that resembles a UI is not a pansy way of trying to eliminate the competition?

can you uhh.. i dunno.. point to an article that shows VZW trying to sue one of the other major companies because of similar features? if not.. then STFU :) I think its a great shot across the bow. Only panzy liberal iphone lovers would get offended by it. Business is cut throat. You take every advantage you can get, because your competition is doing it to you. Ol Jobs left himself wide open with the way hes been acting about the situation. It would be stupid if noone took advantage of that fact. He sure would if it was the opposite.

if those suits area accurate, then they are actually stimulating competition/innovation. No one will invent anything if they know they're technology will be stolen by some other company. If we didn't have patents, then we'd be like China with all the fake models and knock offs. But yeah, I think that was a nice shot though. I just hope Motorola tries to be a little more creative this time with their advertising and not rely on their "iDon't have a physical keyboard" stuff. If they do that again, then they are establishing that iPhone is the phone to beat.

I don't really remember that toy. But do you know what Android reminds me of? It reminds me of the Voyager, the Dare, the Blackberry Storm, the Instinct, the palm Pre, etc etc etc. Everyone who had those phones were basically saying the same thing as you. The iPhone sucks, outdated, boring, fanboys, hype, nothing new, icrap, not as good as everyone thinks it is, etc etc etc. People are so sprung on trying to make the newest phone better than the iPhone. I mean you compared the iPhone to a "stupid little fucking toy" that "was ridiculous." What kind of an understatement is that? I'm considering getting an X, but you're delusional if you really think the iphone is crappy and that bad.

Ahhh sori EN..voyager, dare, instinct ARE NOT SMART PHONES! While the storm and the pre were smart phones in the same line as iphone. I will agree that the storm and pre had innovative design flaws like apple is experiencing now, but to compare the voyager, dare, instinct is not even close. These devices I just mentioned resembling close to what a smart phone has is html internet and resistive touch screen. Other wise doesn't even compare as such. Just thot u should know. But as far as this iphone 4 is concerned we can say that apple has its first FUBAR! Just like BB w/ the storm, palm with the. Centro series and most if not all windows phones. I can foresee another iphone 5 in the horizon alredy, perhaps in 8-10 months from now. Heck apple and all their techies are back @ the drawing board hatching up the next gen phone. Believe it or not the apple fan club will see the light day and that bulb will go off in the distant future. Just like the cyclical theory everything goes round and round...its just googles turn now...while its hard for some people to accept that its a fact of life. By the way aesthetics only goes a certain amount of time... the saga continues...next comment...

They are not pointing it out to help customers choose correctly. They are doing so to boost their sales! You need to understand that. Profit is the only driving force in this game. @plyfulgentleman You missed my whole point completely. It doesn't matter whether or not those phones were smartphones or not. I was trying to point out that people were saying the same exact things forever regardless of what phone they had and how much their phone sucked/didn't suck.

I was reffering to the fact that people buy into fads and don't even know what they are buying, or check to see if there is anything better out there, which when it comes down to it, android is better than iphone o.s. if you know what you're doing. My best friend is a little iphone fanboy, and when he saw just a few of the things i've done to my droid, he was like "Fuck you dude, you were right. i want one of those" iPhones are good for for the idiots that want the smartphones and apps, but dont know how to use anything else, or are too lazy to do a little reading. But ya. seriously bro, get off my nuts. fuck off

I need concrete details and not just talk. My sister has a Droid and she's right next to me and I don't see this amazingness that you're talking about. She says she loves her phone but if the iPhone ever came to Verizon she would drop her Droid in a second. The widgets are nice and the notification system is amazing but what else am I missing!

Dude if u maybe read up about it instead of being a little douche bag, u could find out for urself what android could do in terms of what u want ur phone to do, being open source, u can load ANY APP made by ANYONE. Not just what apple approves. All I did was a little research, and I've learned how to load custom themes and roms of my choice. For exapmle, I am and have been running froyo (android 2.2) on my phone before they even released it on the g1. Mind u it is not officially realesed to the droid yet. Because my phone is rooted, I get free wifi teather, I have my processor over clocked to 1.25mhz (faster than any stock smartphone out there even ipad) and I can minipulate my proccessor speed however I want. And these are just a couple things. And then there's the obvious stock things like multitasking which every REAL smartphone has been able to do since around 2005. Widgets is another cool thing that u can't do on iphone. But besides all that, I've been using smartphones for years now, ever since they have been worth using, and android most of all, comes with the features u would expect from an actual smart phone and not some over hyped piece of crap.the only reason u and ur sister don't love that droid is because u don't know what to do with it. Ur just some kid that's been brainwashed by apple and have 0 experience in smartphones period. Now quit trying to start stupid little arguments with adults and go back to bed or your mom is going to spank u

I don't have to read about it. I use a Droid almost everyday. And stop with the open source crap. Developers go straight to iPhone even with all it's rules. Android is open but it's still hard to find a good app that actually works on your Android model.  Its actually kind of sad. Why are developers so afraid of Android? I'm always reading "nice, when is this coming to Android?" or "why doesn't ______ make an app like this for Android." I know because I've looked and it actually is frustrating finding anything useful. You can tether (not sure about wifi) and customize all you want if you jailbreak your iphone. Multitasking is almost the same thing and almost every cellphone reviewer on the web agrees. I guess they're all fanboys too right? I really don't know much about overclocking processors so I can't really comment on that, even though 1.25 ghz is a capability of the Droid and not Android in general. I've never felt that my iPhone was slow that I needed a faster phone. The reviewers say that even the Droid X lags because of Android OS. Maybe that's why overclocking has become so popular. And do you know what is a basic smartphone feature? Opening Microsoft Office files. Why does the Droid say "Cannot download. The content is not supported on this phone." so now I have to search the web for apps that can help me open a simple document file? What kind of a joke is that?!?! And I'm some kid who doesn't know anything about smartphones? Don't try to talk like you actually know who I am. Let's try to keep this about phones and not make random statements with no factual basis. And I'm not being a douche bag, (how old are you again? Haha) you kinda are though.

@ vzw fanman You should know by now that I don't think the iPhone is godly. I'm giving you guys a chance to explain why Android is so great and convince me and others of the wonderful opportunities Android brings. But instead you guys are just being sarcastic and insulting. Cali_E said that after showing his friend a few things, his friends said that Android was better. I asked him about those "things" too see if I would react the same way but he's basically telling me to go research it. Nice. But the good thing is that I've researched Android plenty of times and have only found notification system, widgets/customization, and the all too common "openness." I was hoping he'd give me specific details and new insight and not talk about the cliche openness, overclocking, decoration, etc.

I would like to know why people regard sales as the only distinction in making one phone better than the other? In my opinion the phone that has the best features and stands the test of time is the better phone. iPhone 4 has probably the best screen, and even that is in question right now, but that's about it. If you polish a turd it will sell, but underneath its still a turd.

If you can root then you can jailbreak, same shizz. Better 1Ghz processor? How do you know that? Yes I would like you to keep going. You can hold it anyway you like? I agree 100% on that one.

Also i bet it wont sell 1.7 million over the weekeng, no matter how hard anyone tries its impossible to beat APPPLE. i had every phone on verizon and i love the iphone more then any phone i had, although i must admin reception wise and 3g coverage wise verizon is a LITTLE BIT BETTER.

Once you start talking, surfing, texting, at the same time, and easily swap sim cards to a crappy phone when you go overseas.. It's hard to go back, but I'll tell anybody that Verizon has the best customer service. Hopefully LTE comes soon

The only reason people are leaving Verizon is to get the iPhone. The reason people are leaving AT&T is the poor service and customer service. According to Bloomberg there will a vzw iPhone by January which is when Verizon makes the jump to lte and Apple will not have to manufacture a cdma version, because the iPhone will function on Verizons network. If this does really happen talk about people leaving AT&T's sinking ship. Because the iPhone is the only thing keeping them afloat. As far as phone quality the android based phones had the iPhone beat even before it was released. Non of Motorola's phone's had lawsuits slapped on them as has happened with the iPhone 4G as announced on the local news last night. Say what you want about Verizon. But when they release a new device there might be a few minor bugs which are soon fixed with updates, not like AT&T with as many problems that there faciliting with the iPhone and the major issues it faces . Bad reception caused by a bad antenna can't befixed by a ota upgrade. So why did they release the iPhone before it was ready?
