Im assuming because they dont need the S4 SoC for LTE, that the intel CPU will be slightly faster.
kinda like the GS3 uses Exynos processors in Europe because it doesnt use LTE radios

that is MY assumption. Intel DID partner with Motorola back in the beginning of this year, that means eventually they will release their collaboration. This may be it.

The S4 is only popular because its the only LTE solution at the moment. The only fast chip that doesnt kill battery since it can control the LTE radios thus eliminating the need of an extra chip/software. Dont get me wrong though, its an great chip.

Umm, Anandtech did such a thing for the Medfield Intel Processors.. It's pretty decent but still has a way to go.

from what I hear, they will be Atom processors, but I would like to see what the Motorola/Intel colabo produces before jumping the gun.

The international version of the GS3 does not use an S4 but an Exynos CPU because its faster. So if the intel version is faster than thats great.

The intel chip is Medfield and has been benchmarked several times. The results are not really impressive: around any A9 dual core in CPU and a PowerVR 540 as a GPU.
In both CPU and GPU is far less powerfull than the Snapdragon S4 MSM8960/MSM8260A/MSM8660A (all the same with different basebands) which is the one they'll use in the USA.
Also some applications in the market won't be compatible with it... All in all a consumer loss.
