The Motorola Moto X, currently the subject of a price war in Canada, will be knocked down in price to $100 on contract during the fourth quarter, according to a tweet from reliable tipster evleaks; in the U.S., the phone is available from AT&T and Verizon for $199.99 on contract. In Canada, the price of the device has been found as low as $149.99 with a signed two-year contract...

Google is not helping by dropping the similarly performing Nexus 4 (on fresher Android) to $200 off contract. Well Google's helping me, mine arrives next week. Yeah!

if people knows about the news of the price drop. they will wait till that comes. or better yet choose other upcoming smartphone. it will be too crowded this holiday,,

Of course. No one will pay $200 for a phone with midrange specs.

I'm sure you're baiting for a comment saying that the the Moto X still has better specs than the iPhone 5 at the same price.

Haha, now who was the real one baiting for a comment from someone, Berzerk?

I hope you have paid 200$ for your iPhone right, a device with lower mid-range specs.
You can say it works, because its a single-tasking OS or to be exact Fake multi-tasking OS (even with upcoming iOS7 - NOT FULL multi-tasking OS)...

So 199.99$ with NO customization NOW on BigRed and 150USD (100+50$) for WOOD finish, if you can wait... Better you people wait...

The more you wait phones such as the S4 and HTC One will be cheaper around the holidays. And let's not forget the LG G2, Note 3 and even the iPhone 5s if that's your speed. Motorola has screwed their golden opportunity.

Sure. Wait. Especially based on info from PA. Who knows, it might actually come true.
Of course, by "Q4" there will be unsubstantiated rumors about the Moto X 2. Why not just wait till that comes out and get the Moto X for free.
Get it? WAITING on some rumoured device is foolish. Publicly advising others to do so is ridiculous.

evleaks from what I've seen has been spot on with info relating to phones. With that being said, and the current price of the Moto X, the $100 drop seems logical considering the Nexus 4 is not $199.99 off contract, which is the biggest bargain in 2013.

Info is NOT based on PA, but the great evleaks. Wood finish phone is anyday better for customization lovers. It will be unique for sure.
What I want to say is, if you are damn sure to get Moto X, then its better to go for WoodFinish + Cheaper at 150$ in next qtr than getting normal one at huge price NOW...
I agree with fanboy1974, Moto has screwed their golden opportunity. Moto X will be best buy if the wooden finish is available for 150$ right now and other options with MotoMaker for 100$ without some BS exclusiveness... It is definitely a MISSED GOLDEN opportunity for Motorola...

This is what the price should have been when it was released. A couple of reasons they're doing this could be poorer sales than anticipated, the release of the Nexus 5 should be around Q4, and to combat the 5C, 5S during holiday time. Also, by then there will also be sales on the S4, HTC One, and maybe even the G2. I think Motorola lost the valuable time from release to Holiday season by pricing it at $199, would have really been off to a fast start if they priced this from the beginning.

it's a good thing i'm waiting for Moto Maker to come to Verizon.
i'm probably going to get an iPhone 5C to be a long term backup and short term primary until the X / Moto Maker comes to Verizon. it depends on the price difference off contract between the 5, 5C and the 5S.

I thought you had a Maxx HD? You're going to go from a Maxx HD to an iPhone? Why?
19. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4270; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Maybe because he wants to use iOS 7 (when it's officially released), but doesn't want to drop the cash for an iPhone 5S because he's just going to use it as a backup. Sounds reasonable.

i had a MAXX HD months ago. xD
right now i'm using a temp Razr M that i bought brand new off contract for $180. i'm giving it to my GF once i get an iPhone. i want an iPhone backup for my work. we deal with iPhones a lot here and it's wise to have one as a reference. i'll have my 2nd Gen N7 as my Android device while i'm using the iPhone and waiting for Moto Maker to come to Verizon.

I will buy this ONLY when Verizon has the Moto Maker tool and Engraving is re-introduced with Wood Backing.. It was the only reason I wanted this phone due to customization, otherwise I will pick something else like the Note 3 or LG G2 since I do like having larger numbers on my specs sheet if I cant have customization.

Moto X, making the DROID Ultra even more pointless since the day it was announced.
24. VZWuser76 (Posts: 3642; Member since: 04 Mar 2010)
If I were looking at the Moto phones on Verizon, I'd be torn between the X and the Droid Maxx. After Moto Maker comes to other carriers, (hopefully) the 32GB option will be available for non AT&T X's, but the Maxx still has the battery life.
Too bad Moto didn't make an Xmaxx (little pun for car audio/subwoofer enthusiasts). ;)

Instead of sell in lower price, go SELL to other countries
