0. phoneArena 21 Jul 2013, 00:30 posted on

Early Saturday, we showed you a leaked press render of the Motorola Moto X; later in the day, a picture of the phone's side profile was outed thanks to another tweet from evleaks. As the calendar flipped over to Sunday, another tweet from the serial leakers revealed yet another press render of the customizable handset, this time done up in white...

Looks very nice. The back is pretty reminicsent of the HTC One.

A pity with the on-screen buttons and apparently not front Motorola logo that it doesn't have HTC One-like speaker grills.

While it would be awesome to have speakers like the One, if Motorola fixes their goddamn camera I think I'll be satisfied with this phone.

Front facing speakers should be a standard by now, HTC nailed it with that. But, the speaker on the Razr HD from my experience is very good, not One good, but still good.

From the recent announcement by Aptina, the Clarity+ tech that will be used in the Moto X seems like it will be very competitive with the amazing camera on the Galaxy S4, while taking great low light shots like the HTC One and Lumia 920

Say what you want, front speakers are probably the most obvious feature that every manufacturer has missed until recently. Samsung was the first (to my knowledge) to put front speakers on a tablet, which was great, and now HTC is doing it on their phones.

Supreme sound quality is a great thing to have. Plus, you'll never miss a notification again, those things are loud.

While speakers on the front is a good functionality, I'm sure that majority of buyers out there still prefer using a headphone while consuming content. Also, having front facing speakers makes the phone much bigger than it needs to be. I mean, come on, look at the HTC One alongside the Mini, you can barely tell the difference in size. I have a Razr HD and the speaker on the back sounds just fine. I rather a more compact phone than to have a bigger phone just for the benefit of front facing speakers.

I never really used my speakers on my previous phones since they usually kinda suck (omg the G Nexus has pitiful speakers), but lemme tell you, i use them all the time on my One. Don't underestimate its usefulness. Anytime I'm out with friends, sitting outside at a park, on a porch etc, they always ask me to turn on some music or a video on my phone cause it sounds like an actual speaker. Headphones don't work in those scenarios.

There have been so many times where a friend wants to show me a video/listen to a song and we had to do the really awkward sharing of ear buds. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks it's awkward because I'm very strict on my own personal space, but still. If they don't have ear buds, they try to cup their hand around the speaker to try and direct the sound forward, but that's usually ineffective.

Front speakers are well worth the extra dimensions in my opinion. To each his own, I guess.

Yeah, the camera has been Moto's downfall for a while. I hope they step up their game in the camera area. 2013 seems to be the year that cameras become the differentiating feature of smartphones.

Love at 1st sight. Hope the battery meets Motorola's standards. (Yeah by standard I mean 3300mAh+)

That's some bs if its true. I don't care how optimized the os is for good battery life . I've run stock ROMs on my S3 and still can only achieve 4 hours of screen time. If I'm up 18+ hours a day and have moments where I need to be doing stuff on my phone I don't want it dying.. I hope its 2500mah+

That's 100 MAh more than the S3 battery, and the Razr M runs a really long time with a 2000 mAh battery. My coworker's M was at 48 percent after a day and a half off the charger the other day, and just yesterday had gone almost 7 hours, dropping just to 84 percent. He's not exactly a slouch with his phone either.

I hope so too but I doubt it. 2200 isn't terrible though. I plan on underclocking the CPU from day 1.

That battery size is not standard. You have to go MAXX for that kind of capacity. Motorola's "standard" is actually between 1800-2500 mAh.

I think the design is generally bland but I also don't like the fact that the upper bezel is thicker than the lower. It's the lower that needs to be thicker in order to avoid finger strain, not the upper.

The phone that Eric Schmidt was holding had a white back, but black front panel and trim, this render is all white though. That must mean you can choose different colors for the back and front panels, and the trim. Panda colored phones are the best kind of phones.

This looks like a marriage of the iphone 5 and galaxy s4; Seriously, it's the same boring design that htc, samsung, lg, sony, zte, and huawei have been using for that last 2 years.

That's usually the case with Motorola! They can't launch on time to save their lives. Wasn't the Bionic like a year late? But if the put out a Note 3 challenger with comparable specs... I'm on it!

*sigh* that's not what Motorola's doing with this phone and you know it.

The Bionic was about 5 months late. It was originally speculated to come out in March or April. It ended up coming out in September. Pretty remarkable job considering they had to redesign the whole damn phone.

I imagine its Motorola's fault since its Motorola's phone, but i really dont care whose fault it was. All I know is I waited a very long time for it to come out. So long that I just got tired of waiting and upgraded to a different phone. If they want loyal customers, they need to quit dragging their feet and bring the heat. Keeps stalling and Samsung wins.

I want a long lasting battery on heavy use. A weird thought- The only way to have a long lasting battery of 4-5 days is that if the whole casing/structure of the phone is a battery. The display, hardware etc to be embedded on the structure of battery. There can be slots cut to fit the chipset/mermory card/sim/camera/display etc. Then the battery capacity will be around 7000-8000mAh. Wouldnt that be awesome.? I think some company must do this..

Why are you trying to saddle this phone with the expectation for "unbelievable specs?" We already know this is going to be a mid range phone specs wise at a mid range price.

If you keep shouting for "unbelievable specs" when you know the phone isn't going to be marketed as a super high end superphone nor sold at that price, you're just being an asshole.

If you've paid any attention at all to ANY of the articles about the Moto X from at least a month or so ago, then you should know what this phone is meant to be.

So which is it? Were you just neglectful in not paying any attention? Or were you willfully ignorant?
