K3

Motorola K3, the KRZR K1 successor was just announced at the 3GSM congress in Barcelona. The major difference of the new phone is the added UMTS/HSDPA and the large 320x240 colors display. Due to it being a 3G device with support for video calling, in addition to the 2.0 mega pixel camera, it also has a VGA one.

The memory is also increased from the meager 12 mb on the KRZR to 50 MB whish is still not very much. The same mini-SD memory expansion found in K1 is also available on the K3.

The new handset will be available initially Dark Pearl Gray and Stone Gray. The K3 is expected to be launched in Q1 2007

Z8
Motorola Z8, or the HSDPA version of RIZR was announced as well. The device not only upgrades the supported download speeds, but the also features unique slider design, which makes it more ergonomic to hold when the slider is up.
The screen size is slightly increased and it now 2.2 inches, from the 2” on the RIZR Z6. The color support has been also increased from 256k do 16 million colors.

An interesting twist is the mentioned Symbian in the official press release. The previous MOTORIZR, the Z6 was running Linux. We’ll have more info later on.

The rest of the features are the same as on the MOTORIZR z8 and include 2-mega pixel camera, 90 MB of memory and microSD card slot.

The MOTORIZR Z8 will be available in the first half of 2007.
