If a leaked screenshot is anything to believe, the upcoming Motorola Droid Bionic for Verizon has been pushed back to a September release at Sam's Club, although other retailers may launch the highly-anticipated device in early August…

Verizon must be very happy they have such buzz around a new unit. Cellphone launches and price stability have become synonymous with the stock market concept. As the price of the unit rises or falls, so does our desire to have it. The Thunderbolt is down to sub $100 from Wirefly, the Revolution is down to the $199 barrier. Will the Bionic hold its value? Can a $299 phone survive long term?

Bionic $200 (Won't happen)=HUGE SUCCESS
Bionic $250=Success
Bionic $300=Little Success

when we're talking about signing 2 year contracts an extra $50 is irrelevant.

I care especially if I can get a gs2 for 200 and it will most likely have wimax on sprint or even on verizon 3g speed is really good enough for me I can stream movies off 3g perfectly where i'm at.

it's highly likely that in the 730 days you have your phone you'll wish you'd have just payed the extra $50 for the phone you really wanted so don't settle, just wait until you have enough money to get any phone you want. it's a wiser decision in the long run.

No idea why anyone would thumbs down that comment. 2 years is a long time. Wait until you can afford what you want. Thump3r has given near Sage-like advice.

blehhhh! who cares anyway! Motorola can keep that eyesore, it doesn't matter when it will be released the SGS2, Nexus 3, and the new iphone will eclipse it's sale. So Moto don't bother just put it back on your shelf for decoration.

iphone if its a brand new design and dual core ya it will sell well if not people are still gonna buy it and you forgot the EVO 3D, Sensation, G2x, and the droid 3 on your list. But the the phone of the year will be the nexus prime

Tons of people care. Dual core and LTE is going to be a rare Bird indeed this calander year. If Motorola got it right with even fair battery life, they are going to have a run away hit.

Lots of people care, you say the SGS2 and Iphone are going to eclipse, 2 phones that will most likely be 3g only. This is the first dual core 4g phone on verizon so lots of people care cause it has already been said that the SGS2 will more than likely be a 3g only phone as well as the iphone, so you can get your slightly better processing seed SGS2 with slower network speed, or a Bionic with about the same processing speed with the faster network speed, and the pen tile debate I could care less about cause if you don't have another phone up next to the bionic your not gonna notice it as much.

But what if Bionic needs to recharged twice or three times per day for its power hungry LTE chip? I'm not sold on these first LTE phones this year that are too fat and serious battery hogs. I would rather have slim, light, great looking screens/camera, SGS2 even if it's 3G.

Not all about hardware for some. I mean what do you need dual core from on a phone. Its just stupid people care about quality/multimedia.

if people felt that way about computers or cars we wouldn't have gotten so far would we?

It isn't stupid at all. If you are an Android fan, Ice Cream Sandwich update in 2012 will be designed for dual-core processors. Blackberry fans also need to take note, as QNX software in 2012 is most likely to be dual-core specific as well. But if you are a W7, iOS, or WeBOS fan, than yes worrying about your fav device not being dual-core is a little silly. They will be fine on Single core.

The epic was 4g on sprint......so im guessing the gs2 will most likely be 4g Lte but probably will come out late to Verizon because of that

If you care about 4g what until the Sgs2 comes out to see if it has it but your safe choice would be the bionic but if you want the best phone on earth Evo 3d jk jk(really good phone thought) but for real the sgs2 hands down

"However, if time is a luxury you don’t have, Costco’s September release date is not at all indicative that the rumored August 4 release date at other retailers has been delayed." This should say Sam's Club? I was confused the first time I read through it.

Phone Dog web site said Costco at first, not Sam's Club. Then they came out with an update saying that the release should have been for Sam's Club. The Phone Dog write up also had tentative release dates at Sam's Club for the Blackberry Touch, LG Thrill, and the Samsung Conquer. Phone Arena may have updated it's headline, but not caught the later reference to Costco in it's story. Sam's Club appears to be correct.

Just hoping it ships 8/4. It seems more likely it will from a preponderance of evidence and rumor, but that might just be the lust talking.

So if you love sucking Verizons expensive d**k, then an extra $50 will be worth it or what not if you buy the phone, eh dont like it, throw it on ebay or something, buy it a few months later for like $200 cheaper, blam, made your money back, look at the Atrix! The atrix is pretty much the bionic maybe with just a lower pixel camera... So continue sucking Verizons extremely fast(and no sarcasm, ive seen the benchmarks) L(i)TE 4G and extremely expensive d**k, ill still with t-mobile, where the only place i get raped is with my data, though mines unlimited for $30...

if you sell the phone after paying the discounted 2 year contract then the phone you'd get after that would have to be at full retail price so if you got lucky and sold your phone for anywhere near the full retail price you'll just end up right back where you started with the same phone and a lot of wasted time and let me remind you T-Mobile charged $250 for 4G devices with sub-par specs when they first came out and they became pretty popular devices, i guess T-Mobile got sucked pretty dry huh?
