Ever since I got the 2.3 update on my Evo Shift, it'll reach upwards of 43.3C (110F) just playing Angry Birds. Sometimes my phone isn't doing anything but sitting and it can reach those temps, and sometimes I have to turn off my phone to charge it because it has reach upwards of 48C (118F) while on the charger. I hope that HTC gets that fixed soon though. Used to be (before 2.3 update), the max temp would be maybe 40C (108F) while charging and playing Angry Birds.

It's not a defect, it's a feature! This model is intended for more northern markets that get very cold winters, where keeping your hands warm is a must if you are to effectively operate your mobile device.

My DroidX1 gets hot enough to make grill cheese when the bat gets past 50% adn its been doing it more since the gingerbread update. The tech support person told me all the droids get extremly hot

I wonder was this issue with these phones the battery or the processor(s)? I don't know what the processors are supposed to run at temp-wise under load but if it's anything like the temps that dual-core processors hit on actual computers it could get pretty darn hot.

My DROIDX1 does the same thing and the Verizon sales rep said that the problem is
Widespread among DROID Xs because of it
Not being able to handle it due to the single core procesessor.

Any time I run GPS while my phone is plugged into my car charger, its almost too hot to touch. And thats just a Motorola DROID. Im guessing a battery issue?

My DX2 has only gotten up to 97 degrees under heavy use. Have had the phone for almost 2 weeks.

You should always turn off your phone for a few minutes every now and then. Leaving it on all day and night will make it heat up. Just like computers do when they are running all night.

Yeah, it's got to be something to do with Android's power management or lack thereof. My droid incredible consistently gets to a 100+ degrees lying dormant. If i use the text messaging it will get up to 110 in no time, like five to ten minutes and stay that way until i take the battery out or it dies, which when it's running that warm only take five hours from 100% to 0. Google seriously needs to tweak the power management.

Mine gets SO hot that i cant touch it. I have to put it in the refrigerator lol. it has been too hot to the touch. when being charged (using the cord and the charger that comes in the box with the phone) and when browsing the web it gets so hot i have to put it down.

not sure what to do about it. I have had such bad luck with motorola phones (and samsung phones for that matter)

anyone have any advise for this?

This is just another Motorola screw-up. They can't seem to manufacture phones without serious faults - just take a look at their support forums.

My Droid X2 gets crazy hot, especially when playing games, surfing web, & surfing Android market. Feels like it's been sitting in the Texas sun.
