Although it’s not the first time we’re seeing dummy units of the upcoming Motorola DROID X2, this time however, we’re finding out from one of our tipsters that the successor is missing one noticeable item...

actually i hated the shutter key on the X. it was wide and it was kind of in the way when you were holding the phone.

well on phones where it is actually thought out it is quite useful... u dont have to fumble with a virtual one and u can access the camera even when the phone is locked...

There you go again, Lucas. Opening your mouth without knowing what you're talking about. You can't use the camera with the phone locked anyway. And with agingerblur you can bind the camera icon to the bottom launcher.

well sniggly if u knew anything u wud know that with wp7 u can do that... as i said, IF IT IS ACTUALLY THOUGHT OUT... and u tell me i open my mouth without thinking it out? maybe u shud actually know phone oses besides for android... and for below--yes when i had my iphone i thought it wasnt necessary but now that i have one i wish the iphone did indeed have one... having it be the volume buttons wud have been a fine idea

Well, you didn't make any mention of Windows Phone 7. Yes, that is an admirable feature of the OS, one which I would very much have liked to see implemented on Android. But 7 is misssing so much other shit relative to Android that it's still skippable. We were talking specifically about the Droid X here. On the Droid X specifically the lack of a camera button is not an issue.

that is obviously why on phones where it is actually thought out... and dont, worry, wp7 is catching up quick... quicker than all the other oses did and are doing... once it gets mango it really wont be very far behind.. for the general consumer it will be perfectly equal... but for people like us it will still lack just a little... but apollo will fix that! and there is always the jailbreaking community that makes everything better

why do you always make this about the which platform is better? i don't care if WP7 allows you to use the shutter key when the phone is locked, i knew that from the first hands on with the premiere devices but the Droid X2 isn't WP7, i wouldn't WANT it to be WP7 to use a damn shutter key when the phone is locked either. it's just a shutter key, it won't be missed, especially when i can grip my hand around the phone without adjusting to that huge, annoying, two stage thing being there.

well i wasnt the one who made this about a better platform... and why wud u adjust ur hand? which phone did u use? and, i never was talking about u... the entire point i was making is that a shutter key is useful like it is in wp7... AND I WAS COMMENTING ON A SHUTTER KEY... if i wanted to comment on the article, i wud have made a new comment at the bottom... and when did i ever say i wanted the droid x2 to be wp7? u really need to read better...

have you ever handled a Droid X? i have biggish hands and i have to hold the phone with my hand around the bottom half of the phone because of the hump on top, you can't grip it like you can an Incredible or even my Droid 2 because the shutter key is so repressed, do it with an X and i'll activate the camera. if what you were saying about how a shutter is useful "if thought out" like it is on WP7 like you told Sniggly then yeah, you did. you commented on me making a comment about the Droid X's shutter key. i was on topic, you took us off topic. that was me telling you how ridiculous it is that you think i care about starting the camera while the phone is locked, it's Android, i'll live.

Yes, that statement did make me think of Windows Phone 7, but it had nothing to do with the Droid X or X2. I'm sorry that I gave you the benefit of the doubt and thought you were staying on topic.

This was known through this site weeks ago. Sometimes I think it's sad how they run stories on information already known. Such as the tracking scandal

This isn't new news. I saw an article about this a couple weeks ago.

This was known awhile ago. Personally, I think it sucks. I hate not seeing a camera key on a phone. Total deal breaker for me.

So is there no way to make on e of the physical keys a shutter key? Maybe an app???
