0. phoneArena 23 Oct 2011, 19:48 posted on

It seems like just yesterday that we were telling you that the Motorola DROID BIONIC had been put up on the DROIDDOES site and now it is the Motorola DROID RAZR's turn to be placed at the top of the list; the site confirms a November launch of the phone...

Because of the way verizon likes to screw over their customers they will probably push the nexus launch at least 14 days after the RAZR launches.

Why? I don't get it...every motorola product recently has been overhyped. Hope it does well though

Hmm... now when you say Galaxy I am guessing your referring to the Galaxy S II (GS2)? Unfortunately the Nexus is also a Galaxy phone and the GS2 is actually Samsung's Flagship Device, so why would people be disappointed to have a top tier phone that has a better processor then the Galaxy Nexus (Nexus) and a better camera then the Nexus? Sure the new features that Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) offers are great, but I'm sure that the GS2 will be one of the devices to soon get the upgrade seeing how the AT&T version at least does have the NFC hardware that is currently turned off, but after all, this is Samsung's Flagship device, that has been breaking records so I'm sure their not going to leave us in the dark. My guess is they left the NFC on there for a reason since of course they had the knowledge of the new features to come from ICS and when that upgrade happens I will be much happier with my GS2 then I would the Nexus, which doesn't even offer an SD card slot.

How does PA come to the conclusion that pre-orders will start on October 27th? With the Bionic, I seem to recall that VZW started putting the word out regarding the date pre-orders would be accepted about 2 weeks before. So far, the silence from VZW on RAZR pre-orders has been deafening. Unless of course, they don't plan on taking pre-orders until say, November 14th? Dunno.

Anyone that says that any wireless service is screwing them over...Let me translate that for you...ahem.....I'm going over my mins and I don't understand why my bill is so much. First of all its all choice! You know how fast technology changes. Its your fault if you decide to get whatever phone you decide to get. You can't blame a company for your choice. What are you 12yrs old here??

Couldn't have said it better myself...it's not like devices come with the promise to be the top device for a certain amount of time, they list the specs and you buy it if you like it, if you don't just don't buy it. Sure it sucks to have your device go down in value so fast but it was your decision to get it so suck it up and move on, I told this to my whiner friend word by word :-)

haha ever heard of the iphone? what about wp7? i had my windows phone for a year and it still got the last update the day it came out, and I still felt like i had a great device becuase it did not lag and worked with all the same standards… same with my iphone 4… how many android phones can say that?

I'm sorry but wp7? seriously.............if you want a clusterf*** of stuff all over your phone go for the windows phone............iphones? seriously if you want to be told what to do with little to no customization then fine go with that. android phones? yes their is fragmentation with the low-mid tier phones but the high end phones their is little to no fragmentation at all. How many low end wp7 phones are their out there? how many low end iphones are their out there? none? point proven solely for the fact that low end phones normally don't use the software well. as for wp7 and iphones their is only one phone from each manufacturer so it doesn't take a lot to send out updates at all because their are only but so many models to update and for the most part they have the same hardware as well throughout the iphones and wp7 lines. So when you talk about fragmentation its total crap. when you talk about lag it depends, have you dropped it? have you tried to push the phone beyond its limits? have you modded it in any way shape or form? who's the manufacturer, all of these come into play. But hey don't think about that and bash the brand. That's your idiotic mindset not mine.

Not sure why people are talking about the Nexus as if it's so much better? Think about this the RazR is supposedly getting such good battery life with GB installed? So with the Dual Core friendly ICS installed on the RazR, do you think the Nexus would still be outclassing the RazR by a large amount heck or even if it outclasses it at all. I say don't sleep on the RazR, Motorola has been using these TI Omap processors in their top phones for quite some time and so far based on the videos and impressions of the RazR seems like Motorola will have a beast of a phone to show off with, and with ICS around the corner after it launches, early adopters won't have long to wait to be brought up to spec with the Nexus users. Hold on to your hats, RazR might be Motorola's way of bidding for the next Nexus phone, watch and see Motorola seems to recovering from that stumble that the Bionic was and is about to counter with a nice hand with the RazR.

yes but the screen! and im pretty sure gingerbread was the dual core goodness… and basically why wait for something that u say "be brought up to spec with nexus users".. why not just get the great specs from the get go? with assured updates.. a blessign on android phones.. a big screen and simplistic android i think the nexus is a lot better

there is no assurance of WHEN ICS is coming to the razr. all we know is that it will get it. but, moto first has to develop blur for it. and by the time the razr gets 4.0, the nexus could be getting 4.1. even if its not that quickly, you know that the nexus will get 4.1 before any other device. the same can be said of every other update as well.

I can't imagine what advantages Blur would add to the ICS interface. Of course the Nexus will get updates first, but with Google and Moto getting into bed and recent Moto Droids using the OMAP 4 series, they should be next in line.

If they don't try to Blur it much.

I can't wait for either handset. Want to view them side by side. Just feel both devices are large and I am petite with small hands. If only both phones were 4;8" x2.4" range and some how maintain a large screen and slim profile. But I do love dual core Hd screen
sporting multimedia dream machines.

If you're looking for a smaller profile, the Rezound may be your best bet. Narrower body than the Razr (but much thicker), and much smaller overall than the Nexus.

You are right The_Ray ! What are your thoughts on HTC's Vigor?

I'll butt in and say the Rezound (nee Vigor) will be a very nice phone, well built and solid-feeling, but clunkier than the Nexus and definitely the Razr. (See the Sensation/EVO 3D for sizing.) The screen will blow the Razr out of the water (4.3" 720p, no Pentile) but we're all concerned about battery life. And since Sense is a heavy modification of Android, I wouldn't expect ICS on the Rezound any time soon.

Anyone buys a phone from verizon for 250.00 and over is getting screwed twice for the price of the phone w 2yr contract and the price of data plan, Once Verizon see you'll willing to pay the price, it will only escalate from there. How much are you willing to pay to just talk and surf the web and maybe play games? Every one is looking for the right and lower price, Amazon and HP proved that. Phones are already overpriced from the MSRP from what it cost them.Any phone over 200,oo is not worth the price considering how fast techonogy changes. You may have the fastest and best Phone today, but will you Tomorrow?

For me, I was all about this phone until I heard about the non removable battery. A single battery has only so many cycles it can run before it fades. It also means you must care for your battery by fully charging and almost fully depleting it or it detracts from it's memory. I'm sorry I abuse my battery by plugging into my car charger, home charger, then office charger. I buy a new battery every three months now, imagine me with this phone after 6 mos. The other factor which is equally important, Ice Cream Sandwich will be coming out yes, but it won't be like the baked in software that will be coming out on the NEXUS. It's a proven fact that MAJOR OTA upgrades are buggy. ICS is a completely different OS than 2.3.5. I figure it took two months for the RAZOR to come out after the bionic, I am sure the same thing will happen with them again. If you can sit on your hands a bit more, and if your like me that waited for the bionic but passed, just hang in there just a few more months, I know your itchy to get the latest and greatest, I'm just saying based on the ICS not baked in, no access to batteries, I'd wait. Also maybe they will figure out how to get rid of that camera hump! I don't see anyone else with a camera hump. I feel for the bionic owners, and i feel the same will happen in a few months... I'm telling you the ICS OTA upgrade just won't be the same. If you have to buy, I'd buy the Nexus based on the baked in ICS, and that's hard for me to say since I am a motorola fan... cheers
