Coming out of the blue, Verizon has just introduced us to the sweet, sweet Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX - a version of the DROID RAZR, featuring a very powerful battery, at the cost of a slightly thicker profile...

I believe 8.99 is still thinner than the iPhone, though just barely. I would probably get the original Razr over this. Still, it's a nice option for those who need the better battery.

I get solid two days with average usage on my galaxy note and i am very happy about that.

I have the RAZR, it doesn't bug me at all that this was released, I am curious however, I get THREE FULL days (72 hours) out of my RAZR on normal use, I wonder what kind of battery life a RAZR MAXX would get..

I don't know, with my Nexus and normal use I can easily get 12-15 hours out of the standard battery and on standby I lose maybe 1% an hour...

Also, that's with LTE and GPS on.

my Droid 3 can eek through a day and a half on normal usage, possibly two if i hardly use it. i'm usually out or at home awake real late though so that could be another factor.

This is great! The more "flagship" phones Verizon releases, the sooner the Rezound will be lowered to a decent price.

Lol, good plan. But I'd rather be on AT&T becasue thei lineup is just awsome at this point. But If I were on verizon, I'd buy the rezound.

BattleBrat; you get Three Days? 72 hours? Wow . . . I consistently get a day and a half and LOVE IT. I consider myself a pretty moderate user; I have many apps, three different e-mail accounts from different sources, calendar, Facebook, news, calls, etc.

I think the RAZR is hands down the best phone available today . . . would better battery life be good, yes, but I love the thin-thin form as well. Barely feel it in my pocket.

Can either of you tell me how you get that. I get maybe a day (6am-11pm) if I am lucky and I only have lte when I am at my house and I leave background syncing and gps off all the time.

The 3 tools I use on the RAZR to control and extend battery life are:

1) Moto Widget Toggle;Power Control - easy way to control the on/off of Wifi, Bludethooth, GPS, Sync, and Screen Brightness
2) Smart Actions; really great power saver and I'm only running 3 currently the Low Battery Saver, Battery Extender, and Nighttime Battery Saver (love it and it works)
3) Moto Task Manager which will automatically turn-off any app I designate after not running for 2 minutes.

I run 4G all the time; I do have the 4G Toggle switch but find I only use it when I travel a bit, never in my home or work area (we have strong 4G here).

One other thing, notifications drain battery life tremendously . . . I've had many smart phone and when I setup this one I decided I'm checking my phone so much daily anaayway that I will only setup notifications for those apps which are really important to me. I have about 4 app notifications turned on (e-mail accounts, calendar, etc.); down from 12-14. I manually push my news, Facebook, weather, and others.

DROID RAZR™ to MAXX or not to MAXX, that is the question!

Quite frankly, I knew about the DROID RAZR™ MAXX when I purchased my RAZR™ on December 5, 2011. I was even able to test out that ICS Galaxy Necrosis on December 4th; the day before buying my RAZR™. Even as I noticed on my receipt that, 'Purchases made between November 15 and December 28 may returned by January 15, 2012' (and, I fall within that window), I wouldn't trade my RAZR™ for a RAZR™ MAXX if you gave me 34 hours of battery life. I have no issues with my battery, I have no issues with 4G LTE in NYC, I love my Lapdock 100 and I love the HD Dock (which, incidentally, will not work with a thicker phone. I know this because the "Officially Compatible" RAZR™ cases do not work with the HD Dock, how the hell will a thicker phone work??).

LOVE MY RAZR™ don't care to MAXX out.

Lol no marketing class can explain Moto's methods as of late. At least the Hardware and software is up to snuff, if it's only a Razr with a bigger battery that is.

purple is one of the choices for the original Droid Razr and the purple looks fine. it's all in the bezel.

I think with the extra thickness, it would be double the battery, so im guessing around 3000-3500 mAh, which is just great!!!, even at that thickness its still the thinnest LTE phone on verizon, thinner than the Samsung Galaxy Nexus

why not! original droid razr isnt the thinest phone in the world anymore anyways, might as well be double battery! if anyone has ever seen a teardown of the droid razr, you see the battery is so thin, so naturally u start thinking, who cares, if its thin, gimme double battery!
the camera hump in my opinion ruins it anyways!!!!
