dude, if you had 7 months to come up with something to beat the Razr when there's better SoCs available then of course you're going to come out with something that can beat it.

i'm just saying when all the cards are played, when the fruits of everybody's labor for that year has been finished HTC doesn't have anything on the market that can beat a high-end Motorola. Bezerk gets this just fine, why can't you?

Berzerk, Your initial comment:

"That's true, the One series is better than Moto's line-up currently. But here's the thing, the One Series is HTC's flagships for the year. Moto hasn't gotten their flagship out yet. Yes, the One X and S beat the Razr, but the Razr is Moto's flagship for LAST year. When they get the Razr HD out, Moto will be on top of HTC again"

Not sure why you are disagreeing with your own comment, because it is the SAME thing Im trying to say. Since the future hasnt happened yet, currently HTC has better Specs. And just like you, I dont doubt that b4 X-mas Moto will pass them up but we cant talk about devices that are not yet released.

I'm not disagreeing with myself, my initial comment was based on release dates. HTC is ahead in development, they released their flagship for the year already at CES 2012, and Moto's current flagship the Razr was released in November of 2011, which will make it inferior to the One X for obvious reasons.

In my most recent one, I said "leaving release dates aside," which means that in perspective of the entire year, not just specific time-frames. In perspective of the entire year of 2011, Motorola had a better flagship than HTC, Razr vs. Rezound. However, in perspective of the year 2012, we can't compare until the Razr HD is released.

What me and King are trying to explain, is that in an *entire year's perspective* HTC has never been ahead in terms of specs for their flagships overall. There is no point in comparing a manufacturer's 2012 flagship (One X) to another manufacturer's 2011 flagship (Razr), because it isn't relevant anymore. You can't compare flagships until all of them are released for the year, so it makes no sense to compare the Razr to the One X. When the Razr HD comes out, it will most likely be ahead of the One X. Yes, HTC is ahead in development, but not in overall specs.

I'm not contradicting my previous comments, I'm just setting them on different perspectives, and that changes the outcome.

When talking about who got their flagship out first, HTC is the winner. When it comes to who had the best flagship for the entire year, Moto has been winning over HTC for a while. Don't compare a 2011 flagship to a 2012 flagship to see who's better, it makes no sense.

Well, what about the iPhone 1/3/3g or 4/4s? Same situation there mate and people seem to go crazy about it.

It's what a lot of companies do..

Just like Motorola in the old days with its original RAZR series of flip phones.. There were plenty of versions of the V3, released at later stages with better specs but almost the same look.

A 720p screen and s4 processor are leading tech in the industry right now. Yes some manufacturers have already got phones on the market with these internals but as of today it will be just as powerful as everything else (except for the Galaxy S3 which is slightly better in most aspects).

i just want quad core 4gb ram 1080p hd display 4g 5 inch screen 16GB internal External Slot and a 3000 mAh Batt, 8MP+ cam with better light senors for better pictures.. not too much to ask for moto

HTC, Sammy and Apple are whoopin your tail in the camera area badly.

That is way too much to ask... 4 GB RAM? Really? 2 is enough for pretty decent multi-tasking and updates. Moto hasn't made plans for a phablet device, at least to my knowledge, and even if they did make one, having it at 1080p would be 440 ppi, which is much more than your eye can even see, and will just kill battery life and waste your graphics. The quad-core, 4G LTE, and 3000 mAH battery are feasible (though would probably be fairly thick); and yes Moto should improve their cameras. But the 4GB RAM and 1080p phablet is just out of reach, without making it a brick. Quit asking for more when what is offered now is quite enough.

We should keep the 2 GB RAM and A-15 processors with LTE for a while, because that is more than enough to be updated and run effortlessly for a few years. All that needs to be improved in the mobile industry are batteries and cameras. Though we're all still waiting for Sammy to come out with their SA+ HD display...

If you were using the full 4Gb of ram, how fast would your battery decrease?

And what is the point in having 1080p display when 720p is in the territory where you can't even see individual pixels... You are just going to end up using more battery than you need to by pushing all those extra pixels onto the screen.

umm?? Youll be lucky to find a Laptop with those specs let alone a smartphone.

Its still 2012, you will probably see those specs in 2014, hopefully you are eligible for an upgrade then.

I do agree with the camera comment. It is currently the only thing holding Motorola back.

What's the point? This phone is only made for verizon. We will never see a HUMUNGOUS battery life phone like this on any other carrier or region

Samsung finally "made it" this year in the US because they offer their big flagship phone with the same specs and the same name (finally!) on all 4 carriers....and we didn't have to wait 6 months after it was released overseas. That says a lot about Samsung's clout in the market and with the carriers. Moto (and HTC) doesn't have that power yet, so instead we'll see variations of the same phone - Photon Q, Atrix HD, Razr HD. Just like last year's Atrix/Photon/Bionic triplets.

As long as Verizon owns the Razr brand in the US, Moto won't catch up to the Big Two. That said, if I were buying a phone this year, I'd want a Razr HD.
