Motorola DROID RAZR HD might be on its way

Sure, the DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX are awesome smartphones, there's no doubt about that, but when you compare them to the latest beasts on the market, there's one thing about them that sticks out like a sore thumb...

it looks awesome...i really like how motorola razr line looks...if it is to have HD screen of non pentile nature and OMAP quad core it is one of my top choices for a new smartphone :)))
2. bobfreking55 posted on 16 Apr 2012, 07:00 2 0
now all that motorola needs is include everything they have in this phone, and stop producing new phones every now and then...
3. SuperAndroidEvo posted on 16 Apr 2012, 07:46 8 3
They should have released the original Droid Razr with a HD screen not qHD. I bet all the people who bought the original Droid Razr & Razr Maxx are going to be pist-off!
4. kshell1 posted on 16 Apr 2012, 07:49 1 1
i would be, every month motorola upgrades from the original it seems. droid, droidX, droid 2,droidR2-D2, droid 2 global, droidx2 ,droid3, droid bionic, droid razr, droid razr MAXX, and now the droid fighter, all within the span of roughly 3 years. a bit ridiculous if you ask me. Tons of product doesnt exactly equal sales.
5. SuperAndroidEvo posted on 16 Apr 2012, 08:06 2 2
Exactly, all those phones you mentioned are marginal improvements over the other. The Droid Razr is not a year old yet but there is now going to be a 3rd variation.
I would be so pist-off if I was an early adopter of the Droid Razr just to find out that in a couple of months the Droid Razr Maxx drops then a couple of months later the Droid Razr HD is going to drop.
Too much in too little time.
6. kshell1 posted on 16 Apr 2012, 08:12 1 0
thats why they only release one galaxy s a year, make the people have time to start wanting the next version....give them time not pressure them by releasing one every month. sounds like the HTC of 2011 and motorola entirely.
7. troutsy posted on 16 Apr 2012, 08:14 5 0
Not all the people who bought a variation of the RAZR will be angry about Motorola releasing new phones so often. Only the people who fear losing any of their internet-nerd-carry-the-leetest-of-electro-devices street cred get upset about it. That includes most of the demographic that frequents Phonearena, but ultimately still only a small fraction of 1% of the people who bought/own a RAZR.
2 years from now, I'll be glad that I only have to wait for 3 months for a better device to come out if I'm not happy with Motorola's most current offering.

actually i think a pretty good bit of us have Razrs. xD
26. KingKurogiii posted on 16 Apr 2012, 15:30 3 0
the only thing i think they should have done differently since the Razr is that they should have announced the MAXX at the same time. if they had done that then this Fighter/RAZR HD/Vanquish would have been well due.
65. Dadler22 posted on 25 Apr 2012, 02:36 0 0
ever seen an iPhone? they marginally improve over a number of years.
17. CommentBoxEnforcer posted on 16 Apr 2012, 11:02 1 1
Your right..i bet the people who bought the first razr are still mad about not knowing the maxx was around the corner..now they might kill themselves
19. kshell1 posted on 16 Apr 2012, 13:21 1 1
they could still possibly sell of their original razr....although its value is going down with every incremental upgrade.....
23. solidsnakeduds013 posted on 16 Apr 2012, 14:41 1 1
LMAO! NOW THE RAZOR HD! omg people are shooting themselves in the foot with this one. Oh well at least I didnt waste my money and bought the first 2! LMAO!
22. BattleBrat posted on 16 Apr 2012, 14:16 4 1
I bought my RAZR online from Verizon November 8th it arrived on the 10th, a day before the official release. I was one of the earliest adopters.
I tell you honestly, I don't care, watch a movie on netflix on the RAZR, then I watch the same movie on my 64gb 4th Gen iTouch, the RAZR is clearer, more vibrant, more beautiful, and no black bars at the top and bottom of the screen, so no wasted space (why did apple go with that screen ratio?) The screen was never a problem with me, and with the lapdock, and ICS the apps should be scalable so they SHOULD format to the Lapdock's screen, that's when the lapdock gets wicked. I prefer the RAZR due to it's thin profile, I usually keep it in my shirt pocket, and thin keeps it unubtrusive.
30. KingKurogiii posted on 16 Apr 2012, 15:38 2 0
they do scale and if they don't scale they turn into the Tablet version because Webtop 3.0 is essentially Moto's ICS for Tablets controlled by the Lapdock or by using straight HDMI-out and using the phone's on-screen trackpad and keyboard software. i'm running the ICS leak now complete with Webtop 3.0. it's very nice. it actually came as a surprise to me that Webtop 3.0 was accessible with a straight HDMI connection.
32. BattleBrat posted on 16 Apr 2012, 16:00 0 0
Really? YES! Then the future is coming! They could make a padphone type accessory with minimal effort if needed, but I'd prefer the lapdock. My Lapdock 100 has been sitting unused for far too long. I have like 6 different "Office" suits all paid, can't wait to finally give them a head to head comp.
33. KingKurogiii posted on 16 Apr 2012, 16:12 0 0
my dad has the 500 and while i still think it's better to use the mouse with it the Lapdock is 100% completely better to use with 3.0. it doesn't feel slowed down like it did before now it feels as feast as you'd expect from running an ICS Tablet/Phone.

Im happy with my Razr. A higher resolution screen would kill the battery quicker. The Razr Maxx is a good phone and I wouldn't really call it a different phone. It's the same phone with a larger capacity battery (aka extended). I can use my battery easily over 20+ hours with normal use and my own actions. (I dont even use smart actions) And even if the Maxx was released I think I would have still gone with the original due to the price difference and I like the form a little better. (My own opinion)
The major gripe about this phone is the firmware and BLUR OS. The menus look dated and is what makes a decent screen seem like a POS.
31. KingKurogiii posted on 16 Apr 2012, 15:42 1 0
i have no doubt that this Fighter/RAZR HD/Vanquish will have a 3300mAh+ battery because not only will it have an HD Display but it's also rumored to have a 1.8GHz OMAP4470. the only reason i see them doing this is because they want to be able to keep up with the likes of the Tegra III and the S4 without using different architecture and to have an OMAP clocked that high and have the phone get any kind of good battery life they'll need that kind of battery.
not the case at all with ICS. ;)
25. KingKurogiii posted on 16 Apr 2012, 15:29 0 0
nah, the Razr is a very satisfying handset, especially with ICS. SAA isn't a bad screen. chances are though i'll probably sell or trade my Razr and Trophy to get this bad boy just because of the camera, on-screen buttons and the display. ;D
34. jherz6 posted on 16 Apr 2012, 16:19 0 0
It will depend on the actual upgrades, the only real differences between the razr and the maxx is the battery. So before people get all upset , lets see what the difference really is. Besides the rumors of the razr hd have been around since before the maxx was released so if you got the maxx or even the original razr. Its the choice you make and the chance you take.
44. Jimstar posted on 17 Apr 2012, 02:04 0 0
See the funny thing is, Having visted multiple Razr forums, i've seen primarily people who don't own Razrs say that. ILike 95% of time too, it's kinda sad how pathetic some people are, just wishing to see others get upset.
10. networkdood posted on 16 Apr 2012, 08:31 0 0

Hopefully this phone will come to AT&T......probably not but I hope so.......as much as I love AT&T's partnership with Samsung, I would love to see some more Motorola droid phones on AT&T......I quite like their UI.
15. kshell1 posted on 16 Apr 2012, 09:54 1 0
how do you think sprint customers feel? they have gotten 1 decent moto phone in the last 2-3 yrs
20. rayman173 posted on 16 Apr 2012, 13:55 0 0
I mean AT&T is no different the only high end moto phone we have gotten is the Motorola Atrix and Atrix 2....both are on the low end spectrum of the top notch phones....plus the atrix 2 doesn't have the last build of the m.a.p.
45. kshell1 posted on 17 Apr 2012, 06:19 0 0
verizon is getting motorola phones like theres no tomorrow......tmobile getting the htc one s and they already have the amaze and sensation, sprint only currently has the sgs2 and photon worth talking in my opinion although the evo lte is coming. att just has a ton of samsung phones recently. and my parents have to choose us cellular .-. so i have to use a wildfire s.....good phone other than internal storage and power
46. SupermanayrB posted on 17 Apr 2012, 09:42 0 0
Sprint ended their relationship with Moto years ago; in '08 or early '09. A Moto rep came to the Sprint store I worked at in '09 & said that they're releasing 4 CDMA phones to Sprint by end of Q2 2010. He was right, except they were released to Verizon. I take it he didn't know what he was talking about or something fell through. I had the Photon when I worked for Sprint. It's basically a Droid X2 with a different design. Oh well, I have Verizon so I'm good.
47. kshell1 posted on 17 Apr 2012, 09:49 0 0
and it has more RAM and internal storage.

Dammit! I just ordered the Maxx again 2 days ago. It's cool though cause I got it for free. Guess I'll eat another restocking fee if this thing releases anytime soon.
16. Cwebb posted on 16 Apr 2012, 10:53 0 2
Sounds like a great phone, but I wouldn't get it because in 2-3 months they'll come out with the exact same phone running a Tegra 3! Motorola fail
29. KingKurogiii posted on 16 Apr 2012, 15:33 0 0
in two to three months the Tegra III will be trash.
18. ChafedBanana posted on 16 Apr 2012, 11:06 0 0
What I've said all along since the HTC Rezound came out. HD is a must. Settle for nothing less. That's why I passed on the Razr and upgraded from the Bionic to the GNex. I only miss the HDMI out. MHL sucks. And the GPS signal takes too long to connect on the GNex.
21. BattleBrat posted on 16 Apr 2012, 14:07 1 0
I didn't care when the MAXX was released, but NOW I'M PISSED!!!
Just kidding, I've had my RAZR for darn near 6 months now, it wasn't going to stay on top forever.
35. bolaG posted on 16 Apr 2012, 17:33 1 0
By the time this Razr comes out my Razr will be over 6 months old. I'm not mad at all about this release, everyone knows new phones with better specs come out over and over again. Who in there right mind can expect to buy a phone and six months latter still have it be the best or not have a successor with better specs?
36. gdogcal posted on 16 Apr 2012, 19:42 1 0
I'm so glad to hear all of the reasonable Razr owners speak their part. I find it hilarious that the folks claiming "the Razr owners are going to be pissed" are not even Razr owners?!
On that note, I do get the idea that Moto could/should have been a more transparent about their new phone roll-out schedule ahead of time. However, what world are we coming to where we tell phone manufacturers to SLOW DOWN their releases? Is this not PhoneArena?! I'm pumped up that we're actually seeing innovation/renovation so regularly in the Android world.
37. KingKurogiii posted on 16 Apr 2012, 19:57 0 0
well i think we want to see more worthwhile upgrades so i think they should do big quarterly launches for every major carrier or a big release for every carrier every half a year.
40. Wildmanfan posted on 16 Apr 2012, 21:37 0 2
And you see, this is Verizon's problem: The problem is that they are not rolling out enough phones to add to their lineup. Why is it that AT&T, being 2nd place rolls out a phone or announces a phone every month, while Big Red announces and rolls out one phone every 3-6 months. And when they do, they roll out s**t. Every now and then, they come out with something like the Nexus. Listen, in the last 4 months, what has come out? The Samsung Brightside? The LG Lucid? And a bunch of rumors about a phone called the Fighter, Razr HD, and all this other nonsense that is irrelevant? Brightside and Lucid? Really? Come on, really? VZW needs to wake up bro. The people who think that Verizon has the best lineup need to wake up too. You know what? For the sake of everyone, I hope one day AT&T buys VZW and take over their network and combines it with the phones they role out. Then I can own a Samsung Galaxy Note on a Verizon signal and network.
41. KingKurogiii posted on 16 Apr 2012, 21:46 0 0
just how much more do you think AT&T is doing than Verizon? xD
48. Wildmanfan posted on 17 Apr 2012, 10:19 0 1
Probably a hell of a lot better than VZW is. The only reason why VZ works so well is that they have the financial backing to invest in their technology. Keep in mind that VZW invests alot more in advertising. Which is why if you compare plans, VZW is much more expensive to cover their advertising costs.
50. KingKurogiii posted on 17 Apr 2012, 14:36 1 0
no, not really. AT&T is like neck at neck when it comes to pricing and when it comes to device line-up just what does AT&T have that is better than what Verizon has?
43. jherz6 posted on 17 Apr 2012, 00:31 1 0
Really? Verizon is kicking AT&T's butt. Big reds testing has been a lot more stringent than anyone else's in the industry, which quite honestly I and others appreciate. They have released s**t? I think not The BIonic? The iphone 4s? The Razr Maxx, seriously? Wildman its not quantity its quality.
49. Wildmanfan posted on 17 Apr 2012, 10:22 0 2
Bionic, a phone that came and went. No one cares much about it now.
iPhone4s, a phone that has a 4 in it and has no 4g in it. Real good folks.
Razr Maxx, a Razr that has an extended battery.
As compared to AT&T: HTC Titan 2, Nokia Lumina 900, Samsung Galaxy 2, and the grand daddy of them all..................SAMSUNG.........GALAXY.........NOTE.
Enough said.
51. KingKurogiii posted on 17 Apr 2012, 14:40 0 0
xD in comparison to AT&T's devices at the Bionic's level the Bionic destroys them. the Bionic is still better than most of AT&T's high-end devices. sure the Windows Phones are pretty nice but there's trade offs for each of the Galaxy S II devices and you got us with the Note but that's pretty much it. you're failing to see the good in Verizon's line-up which there is a lot of.
52. Wildmanfan posted on 17 Apr 2012, 23:55 0 1
Ok, but then let me ask you this: why does it take Verizon almost 6 months for something to come out when it takes AT&T is announcing phones every month or 2? Look at the s**t they brought out the last 2 times: The LG Lucid and the Samsung Brightside? Really? Seriously? I mean really? Look at what AT&T has: Nokia Lumina 900 and the HTC Titan II. What gives here?
By the way, for the record, I am a 10 year VZW customer who is thinking about switching to AT&T.
53. KingKurogiii posted on 18 Apr 2012, 00:24 0 0
does it matter? even at that rate it still doesn't seem that AT&T has caught up with Verizon. it's quality not quantity.
54. Wildmanfan posted on 18 Apr 2012, 22:22 0 0
Your missing my point. My point is, why is it that if Verizon is supposedly #1 in the country and they have called themselves the countries most reliable network, how come it produces a phone for their customers so slowly? I mean seriously, if your a customer needing an upgrade, you'd wait forever. AT&T gives you endless options almost bi-monthly. It should really be the other way around.
55. KingKurogiii posted on 18 Apr 2012, 22:45 0 0
why does that matter when Verizon's selection has BEEN good? we don't need more of the same stuff. all AT&T is doing now is playing catch-up.
56. Wildmanfan posted on 21 Apr 2012, 00:45 0 0
I think if you look at the line up in the last 4 months of what's come out between the 2 companies, Verizon needs to play catch-up or they are marching to a really bad drum that is off-key.
57. KingKurogiii posted on 21 Apr 2012, 12:27 0 0
what i'm saying is they didn't need to come out with anything in the last 4 months. nothing was a substantial enough improvement to add to what was already there. xD
58. jherz6 posted on 22 Apr 2012, 14:07 0 2
The Bionic is an older device as phones go however, its still a great device. Samsung, and HTC phones have TERRIBLE battery life. Nokia? Palease, and yes the iphone 4s is not 4g but who cares, its still a better device than any of the ones youve mentioned. Enough said? you havnt said s**t.
59. Wildmanfan posted on 22 Apr 2012, 14:48 0 1
Bro, I've said what I got to say. f**k the Iphone. If you think that the iphone is better than anyone of those phones I just mentioned, then that's just whatever. Keep watching s**t on that little ass screen, thinking that it's the best thing going. By the way, you haven't said s**t yet either pal.
60. jherz6 posted on 23 Apr 2012, 14:43 0 0
First of all Im not your Bro, second whats with the temper tantrum? I never said that the iphone is the best thing going, I just said its a better device than any of the ones youve mentioned. What I Am saying and have said is that VZW's testing standards are alot more stringent than at&t's, and the reason is so when they release a device they have worked out most if not all of the bugs are worked out before they are released. So its better to have a few well working well thought out devices in your lineup than a several mediocre ones as is seen from at&t. As far as fees if you take a good look at&ts in most cases are about 15% higher that at&t's, for example the upgrade fee on at&t is 36 dollars, and on VZW is only 30. You get what you pay for , and its not quantity its quality. Oh and if you have been with VZW for so long there must be a good reason if not then switch to at&t already.
