Motorola DROID 2 Global GSM radio locked, case now with a camera bulge

The Motorola DROID 2 Global went quietly on sale on Verizon, but unfortunately the GSM bands of the dual-mode device are locked down. Now that actually seems non-global for a dual-mode CDMA/GSM handset, but does not come unexpected…

I don't know why the lock on Droid 2 Global is thought to be a big deal. I received the phone by mail, took it to my local Verizon store and told them I needed to be able to use other SIM cards. They took care of it and I am now in Europe, on a GSM network, using another SIM. The whole process took less than 15 minutes.

It's thinner than the droid 2 but the camera is the same size-hence the bulge
