Motorola CLIQ shipped with OpenGL bug?
Ok, you bought your Motorola CLIQ and the MOTOBLUR is doing its' job, pushing your social networking info to your home screen. Now you want to relax by downloading a game, let's say, oh, Hexage's Buka title. One problem. Thanks to what appears to be a bug that the handset was shipped with, that game, another Hexage title called Totemo, and many other hit games will not download on the CLIQ. The error messages were reported on the Motodev forums and are being blamed on a bug that prevents the phone from being able to access the OpenGL API VBO (Vertex Buffer Objects). Motorola has not commented on this problem, but we are pretty sure a fix will be sent. The CLIQ runs on Android 1.5 and as we just reported, it is likely that the handset will bypass an upgrade to 1.6 and get an upgrade directly to 2.0. There is no time frame for when this might occur, but keep in mind that Android 2.0 will debut at the end of the week when Verizon launches the Motorola DROID.
