Needless to say that there is a lot at stake when you’ve been given the prestigious title of being “the world’s most powerful smartphone,” but it would seem that the Motorola ATRIX 4G is up for the challenge. Not only is it packing some impressive...

PhoneArena is unable to work any phone other than the iPhone properly. Just like they can't write a decent review unless its "sponsored" by Apple.
Im dumping my Samsung Epic 4g with 2.2 Update for the Moto Atrix. I hate Motorola and MotoBlur, but with the dual core processors MotoBlur finally doesnt lag and screw the phone up.
Anyone that hates MotoBlur from the old 600mhrz phones will be surprised that MotoBlur actually doesnt get in the way this time.
I played Angry Birds connected to a bigscreen tv and also with the laptop dock and its amazingly clear and fast on the bigger screens still.
Now I wouldnt buy the Laptop dock, I would get the package that has a dock and wireless mouse and keyboard for entertainment or using the webtop kit on your own monitor or tv, its ALLOT cheaper and gives more options!
I havent gotten this thing to lag up, freeze, jump, or anything. I have apps downloaded and installed in, no joke, less than 5 seconds in most cases.
Everyone says i sound incredibly clear on this phone, so at least motorola got the dual mic sound quality on point too.
This is by far the smoothest running phone I have used, even over the Epic, Evo, and Inspire.

really?? im glad to hear that. when i heard about this phone, i was glad to see it go to AT&T. they needed a phone to eliminate the Iphone as the best AT&T phone. i think i found something that can replace my computer...especially with the labtop deck attached to it. very innovative and it should be LTE capable which would make it better

It is capable of those "Semi" 4G speeds, but obviously now they are spotty at best, but when your area gets the faster speeds, your phone will be ready to handle them. This thing BLAZES on Wi-Fi though, like insane speeds of downloading and installing and booting apps.
I wish my store would stop selling the iPhone, its nothing but problems, luckily my customers tend to listen to me when I explain why NOT to get an iPhone and they go with Android or WP7 more often than not.
Seriously, this is a GREAT phone! Good size, Decent camera, AMAZINGLY smooth and responsive and everyone says I sound crystal clear!
Im happy, then again, the owner of my store bought the phone for me for being so AWESOME, lol.
Either way, I would pay for this phone if I HAD to and AT&T has the Inspire for $99!!!!! That is INSANE, an EVO for $99 is a CRAZY price point to start out at!
I would however get that desktop bundle pack instead of the laptop. Even though the laptop is GREAT and charges your phone and works great for browsing and running full screen versions of the apps on ur phone, it doesnt do much more than a larger version of your phone and a full web browser, kind of expensive just for that. The desk top kit you can plug into ANY hdmi monitor or TV and have a wireless keyboard and mouse, plus a remote to control your media for playing videos and music on your monitor or tv and the package costs less than $200!
Seriously a great phone and down the road we can count on Moto upping it to 2.3! Speaking of Updates, the AT&T Captivate finally got 2,2 after Sprints Epic got 2.2 2 days ago! Finally Sammy stepping it up!

Okay. SO why are you bringing up the iphone and saying it is worse when you dont even own one... I understand you work at an att but really, nobody believes that more people buy wp7 and android at your store. If that was so, there wud be some different numbers being thrown around. And really, you spent 200dollars so you cud play angry birds on ur tv...
13. Lucas777 (Posts: 2137; Member since: 06 Jan 2011)
and i forgot to say, how is the iphone problematic at all... just wondering, cause really it has no bugs, apple makes sure of that... now android, if u wanna talk about bugs... but, its a scale--you get more themes on android... (i say themes as a general customization)
15. DJLegacy2k5 (Posts: 212; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
LMAO, are you joking? Ive been selling phones for 10 years, I was given an iPhone to use by my job, I gave it back after 2 months.
Seriously, you are a complete tool if you dont think Android outsells the iPhone and any GOOD sales team doing a side by side with the iPhone and WP7 should be able to sell it to any accepting member of the general public that has an open mind to the information.
So if you dont believe the FACTS, you are just proving that you are a brainless sheep as well.
I have CONSTANT issues with the iPhone from customers. you are apparently one of those people that just deny everything blindly because you cant stand on reality based convo.
Again, you also can not read, I DID NOT PAY FOR THE MEDIA PACKAGE. I demo'ed the media package in our store. I said I would RATHER pay for the media bundle over the laptop.
You have proven you are a complete tool and waste of space, proven by your insanely stupid posts which prove you cant not read, let alone care about the facts.

you talk about selling phones for years and how many issues the iphone has, yet you dont dare mention the consistant hardware AND software issues android phones have. either your are a flat out idiot, or you cant count that high. sounds to me like you fall into both catagories. moron.
28. DJLegacy2k5 (Posts: 212; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
LMAO, wtf are you talking about? their are DOZENS AND DOZENS of Android phones, why would I comment on each model from every manufacturer. I can comment on the wack ass iPhone because they only make ONE a year and still cant get it right.
You are obviously the moron if you cant figure out the differences in comparing EVERY Android device to the ONE iPhone.
Im not going to compare a Motorola Flipout Android phone to an iPhone because the specs are not even in the same ballpark and they werent designed to be.
Shut up tool

LOL this coments cranks me UP
-First There is no such thing as software without BUGS and I have to say that for a company that makes software for only one device once a year apple screws quite a bit
check the bug fixes as they get fixed by updates.
im not saying that android is far better from iOS but don't think is worst

Lucas777, please understand that authorized resellers barely make any money off the iPhone and we are limited with the customer service (such as battery issues) that we can provide for iPhone users. So it's no surprise that Android outsells the iPhone, Hell, we still sell more featurephones than smartphones. Our stores probably won't sell much of the WP7 handsets, we've seen very little interest in that OS. We're the top dealer in our region, even over Best Buy and corporate stores and the iPhone is not dominant.
23. DJLegacy2k5 (Posts: 212; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
You have to create interest in WP7, most normal customers dont know ANYTHING about it. We sell a TON of WP7 to people that want SIMPLE, live tiles, streamlined (2 main screens). WP7 is great for people's first smartphone, or for the people that dont want to spend 2 weeks learning their new phone. WP7 is a VERY simple sell if you spend any time on the OS with the average customer.

MotoBlur IS a deal-breaker!!. It breaks my heart.
10. cheetah2k (Posts: 1474; Member since: 16 Jan 2011)
I don't know why you got down voted on your comments on MotoBlur. It really is rubbish. Even the SGS touchwiz is better.
The real deal breakers for me is that the Atrix is still running Android 2.2, its only 850Mhz WCDMA compatible (I need 900/2100Mhz), and its locked to AT&T...
It means I'll be hanging on to my Nexus S until the Galaxy S II is released later on this year.

Dam i really want this phone :'(. Its too bad i live in san fransisco. At&t service sucks over here no matter what type of phone u have. I know because i have a bb torch and nd boyfriend a htc inspire 4G. And were going to cancel out service this saturday :(. No its not our phones its not our sim card because we switched our phones 3 times already for new ones its att service that sucks over here . We drop calls like crazy even when standing outside with full reception Data edge or 3G doesnt work half of the time. Even when u are outside and the phones have full reception it just loads web pages halfways it cant finish loading the other half its really frustating picture messages never come in on time they come in like 3 hours later I just dont know why at&t service doesnt work in san fran i mean it works fine in fresno and texas because i used it there . But for sum reason san fransisco is an at&t deathzone. :(((
9. DJLegacy2k5 (Posts: 212; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
It happens, MARYLAND as a whole is a VERIZON DEADZONE! So yeah it sucks when you want nice phones but cant get service. Ive been using Sprint for YEARS with no problem, my mom, dad, grandfather and girlfriend are all still on my sprint account, I still have my Epic but I just got the ATRIX because its such a nice device.

11. saneok (Posts: 78; Member since: 01 Oct 2009)
is it just in a certain region that you have all these problems or throughout the whole city? My friend has ATT and he gets very good bars in my apartment. and other people I know say they get pretty good coverage in the city but not in all areas.
Im considering switching to ATT because Im sick with Verizon. I get ok voice coverage but data coverage is horrible in SF and in other places too.
If I switch and then find out that I get even worse coverage than Verizon I'll be pissed.

dont get a contract... gsm phones if u buy from the right price on craigslist, you can sell it after two weeks and buy a contract... kind of a trial...

You might try developing a test plan before you get your AT&T phone. As soon as you get the AT&T phone, start testing the coverage in places you frequently find yourself. If no dropped calls or no coverage at all in the places you frequent, then go for the AT&T service. But in my area, there are at least 5 places where I find myself at least once a week (usually more often) where AT&T has zero/nada coverage. That kind of gap is just not acceptable for me.

i picked up the atrix the other day at costco. it was surprisingly cheap there. $119.99 for an eligible upgrade, but i ended up getting charged $109.99 for some reason but i wasn't complaining. I use at&t over verizon due to going to school at Pepperdine law school, and for some reason, i got a ton of areas on the campus that verizon would have no service at all, but i get service all over campus with at&t. the phones performance has been great. super fast, no delays or lag while running any apps. my download speed over the at&t network isn't the greatest, but an improvement over the speeds i got from my xperia x10. I averaged about 2.5-3.0mbps on the atrix, and on the xperia about 1-1.5. However, the atrix flew over wifi speeds. my xperia used to cap out around 6mbps over wifi, but the atrix doesn't. i get 20-22mbps over wifi which is the same results i get from my laptop running the speed test.

@saneok i get bad reception all over the city with att . i recommend not switching to att if u live or go to san fransisco alot .. stay with verizon im sure its not that bad as at&t

Does the fingerprint scanner unlock the phone? :o
24. DJLegacy2k5 (Posts: 212; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
Yes, and i havent had it miss ONCE lol
You scan the index finger on right and left hand so you can unlock with either hand, also you program a numeric lock code incase you ever have issues with the print scanner. :-)

I'm thinking of getting the Atrix, but might wait for the Samsung Infuse. What do you think? I'm looking for an AT&T Android with the best HD video capabilty. Looks like the Atrix has about or slightly better HD video capabilty as an I-phone 4. I hear the Samsung will have an 8 MP camera with 1080p video recording capabilty. Wonder if that's at 30 fps or less????

I urgently need your valuable opinion. I spent several hours yesterday (Sunday) at a AT&T Retail Store with the Motorola Atrix. As you may know the phone display is a smidge under resolution to the IPhone 4- it lacked the "Punch" I thought the Display would or should have- is it because of Android 2.2? The dual core and Nvidia graphics accelerator should have given the Atrix a absolutely stunning display, it was “Just Ok” display, but nowhere near the retina display of Apple. I am resigned or guessing to think that this may be a Android software thing-
The Battery time appears good, I ran the Motorola “Flash Demo Site” about 9 times, ran Kobe Bryant’s “Nike Black Mamba” 5 min Trailer sever times was all over the web, Huge Multi Media Sites, and I didn’t ding the Battery at all, which was very surprising-
There is no question the Phone is very fast, actually at this point, I’ve never held a faster phone in my hand, we downloaded Extreme Labs Speed test, “Blink” it was done, actually initially I thought the download aborted- No such luck, Its fast-
So the Bottom line, The Display worries me. On the other Hand I'm hearing the Display on the Xoom is Gorgeous- but their running Gingerbread 3.0- I remember there was talk that Gingerbread required some very High Tech Hardware in place, Dual Core, Nividia ect- The Atrix is running Android 2.2-
Oops! I left one thing out-
The Sales rep told me the phone was “LTE Ready”, when I asked what do you mean, he smiled and said all that’s required is a Sim Card Change Out, He said Both the Inspire and the Atrix were that way. After I got home I called AT&T and spoke to a Supervisor in Technical Services, who confirmed that dialog. I am very surprised, as none of the reviews have said that. There has been great debates over 4G, and articles that say the Atrix is but isn’t 4G, and cannot work on LTE-
