Motorola ATRIX 2 Hands-on
0. phoneArena 12 Oct 2011, 03:33 posted on
Earlier in the year, AT&T had the prestigious opportunity of taking grasp of what was deemed as “the world’s most powerful smartphone” at the time. Nearly 8 months after it was released, we’re now just getting our first look at its successor in the aptly named Motorola ATRIX 2...

Ok, I was leaning towards getting the original atrix, but now this one has a new processor, if this processor is noticeably better than the original by just a little bit, im just gonna get this. Anyone still not think it's worth it, even with it's nice price tag of $99 and probably cheaper at another store?

Btw, @John V. so where did you guys get to get a look at it?

At this point you're only missing out on the fingerprint scanner and larger internal memory. If you can live without those, then by all means tag it and bag it. :)

"Under the hood, it no longer is being powered by a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, but rather, it sides with a 1GHz dual-core TI OMAP processor."

I know, I was wondering if this was much of an upgrade, after doing the research myself, this should be a slight upgrade, anyways, I found that out and the fact that it doesnt have a pentile display makes it official, im getting the motorola atrix 2! woohoo!!

I believe that the OMAP is supposed to be better at power consumption and smoother overall. And yes, the lack of a Pentile display is a HUGE plus, lol. Though honestly I don't mind it on my Atrix.

after owning the first atrix and a couple other moto phones I would never suggest buying one of their handsets. They are garbage, they may be the first to the party but there is a reason, the first atrix is a plastic piece of $600 crap.
I returned the Atrix and got the galaxy s2 much better phone, without even the slightest bit of question. Motorola phones are a joke, and if you live outside the USA then good luck getting an update from moto.
Motorola has been the manufacturer of the worst cell phones I have ever owned.

Funny, because Motorola phones have been among the best I've ever handled. Even at their low point, before Android, when I was in Verizon's warranty department, guess which phones I got called about the least? That's right, Motorola phones.
My V195S worked despite being through everything I could throw at it. My Cliq still works despite being almost 2 years old. My Droid X is just being shut off from its network today; prior to that, the only problem it had physically was a blown battery cell (which happens to any battery from any manufacturer). And my Atrix works wonderfully. Sure, I'm not thrilled about the plastic feel, but the phone works really well.
Always remember that others can have different experiences than you.

I'm not going to lie, the Atrix has its flaws that can be easily avoided giving Motorola spent a little more money working out the bugs but all in all it is a good phone. This is my first motorola phone.. wont be the last since Google is buying out motorola :DDD

I got the first Atrix after always having Samsungs in the past: none of them worked. I was very happy with the Arix #1 -except for the screen, a little bleak to my taste. I can't stand Samsung software on top od Android. Now I am getting the Arix 2 as I have 2 cell phones. I like the quiet understated design. I don't care for HTC jewelry design. The screen is better and larger than #1. I tried both the iphone and the Atrix and as I don't care for music on a cell I much prefer Google experience on the Atrix 2 (and 1).

I just got the Atrix 2
The screen is much better
Much easier to read the newspapers
The virtual keyboard also works much better, faster, everything is snappier
Again I did note care about music
What I care is using Google and it is much better than on the iphone

CTIA sucks. This is the best phone there and even it isn't anything special. Nothing new.

On the plus side, it's only $99 for a competitive Android device. The Bionic on VZW is $299! Seems like the Atrix 2 is a much better value.

True but i wanna see something that is really good, not just good for the price.

On the other hand, until 10/17, you can get a Droid Bionic for $0.01 if you add a line to Verizon.

Wow, can't believe that PR guy highlighted the fact that you get ZumoCast "right out of the box." It's a free app available in Apple and Android app stores!

It's being stated a lot so it's probably because they are trying to promote the app since it's made by motorola...
