More Sega Genesis fun on your iPhone thanks to an official app
Gamers who are content with playing games release back in the 90’s will be extremely happy to know that an official Sega Genesis app will be made available soon. There’s no question about the nostalgic feelings one is reminded about when they begin to play these games – it brings them back to a time when high scores were coveted and losing all your lives meant starting the game over from the start. You may have experienced this with some emulators in the App Store that were classified as unofficial; but legal at the same time. Now a full virtual console will soon make its way to the iPhone officially thanks to Sega’s Ultimate Genesis – which offers some classic games already found on the App Store that are packed neatly to purchase into this one. Although we won’t see the app until February, you’ll be able to use the in-app purchasing system to download other games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Ecco the Dolphin, and Shining Force – all running from $2.99 to $5.99. Most of the games mentioned are already listed as standalone apps, but the Ultimate Genesis emulator just makes it easier to find all your games in one place.

$5.99 sounds a tad bit steep for a 15-20 year old game. I have sonic for the iPhone and it was a mistake, being very hard to control; but that may just be me. I would not buy the sega app for the prob $9.99 it will go for, to turn around and need to pay 5.99 a game for anything worth playing. Yes I do remeber playing all these games on my genesis paying $30 a pop for them (well my mom did, but I was 10) that was than this is now. A 15min once through dose not seem worth it. Drop the price and I'm all in let's get these emulators on the iPhone. Thought you prob won't see a Nintendo one due to the DS and Wii store with the compention and all.
