Mophie's juice packs for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge come with wireless charging support

Mophie has just announced a new juice pack for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge that supports wireless charging. This is the first Mophie battery pack that can be charged using a wireless charging mat.

The case maker says that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge juice pack is compatible with virtually any wireless base, including here Samsung's own models. Furthermore, you'll be able to charge both the case and the phone without taking the case off, although you will need to use a traditional microUSB cable for dual charging.

Samsung's own 'Backpack' battery case for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge also uses wireless charging but does so to charge the phone. The case itself has to be charged using a cable.

Unusual as this feature may be, however, other cases with the same functionality are already available on the market. One example are Incipio's Ghost QI cases for the iPhone 6 and 6S series.

Moving past wireless charging capabilities, Mophie's juice pack for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge extends the battery life of the handsets by about 60%.

According to Mophie, the Galaxy S7 case will provide 11 hours of talk time, four hours of browsing, and seven hours of video playback. The Galaxy S7 edge juice pack is slated to provide 13 hours of talk time, five hours of browsing, and 11 hours of video playback. Obviously, that's on top the battery life of the handsets themselves.

Mophie's wireless charging battery cases for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge will set you back $99.95 each. As far as chromatic options go, black trims are available for both handsets, while the S7 edge version gets a special gold color. At the moment, there's no word on availability.
