Unless it's the LG Nexus... :D
If not, then you can just use Nova Launcher.
But I really, REEEEEALLY hope that the mentioned device is the new LG Nexus.

LG's hardware is beyond good, but unless they focus to improve their software support, they wont be seeing that many cult following like the Galaxy series have.

I really want to see a Sony Xperia flagship with this CPU paired with 2 GB of RAM, Adreno 320, 720p screen with white magic, 2500mah battery, 13mega pixel camera and it will be a killer phone in market. Ill probably end up buying it too lol but LG ill pass.. since had problem with LG phones earlier...

I think there is a bit too much bashing on LG. I can happily admit that they are not the best ones with software updates, but let's wait and see what they bring before deciding if the phone is good or not.
(And not, I was not the one giving thumbs down to all the LG bashers)

darac, I know remixfa & kingkurogii are both wrong, but we don't have to call people names. lol

remixfa was only citing what WAS put out in certain cites. Qualcomm changed its course of action & released these monster chips sooner than their own timelines suggested. I think you & I were the only ones who knew the quad-core S4 Pro would be out globally BEFORE Q4.

Well remixfa I guess we were right in our timelines. This quad-core S4 Pro looks to make it to the U.S. BEFORE your Exynos 5 & your OMAP 5. So let’s say this quad-core S4 Pro is @ a modest 1.7GHz (they are talking 2.5GHz) then it will indeed be just as powerful as your Exynos 5 or OMAP 5. I am willing to say EVEN more powerful.

Remember I was telling you that Qualcomm was WAY ahead in terms of development compared to Samsung's Exynos 5 & Texas Instruments OMAP 5? 2012 the year the sleeping giant Qualcomm woke up & literally took the market to be TOP in the world in terms of PURE power, performance & overall usability. I guarantee this wave will keep going in 2013.

I always knew this was going to happen. I can admit the last 2 years or so Qualcomm got caught sleeping but that rude awakening was what they needed to produce the wonderfully versatile & VERY powerful Krait S4 dual, & quad-core Pro SoC's.

you guys are hilarious. There isnt a single thing here that says definitively that the phone is happening soon. That whole last bit is pure speculation on the part of the writer. You should have learned by now to not celebrate until something actually happens. When LG publishes and OFFICIAL launch date you can get happy. When they actually deliver on that launch date, then we can talk about who was right or wrong. Dont put your cart before the horse. Do you need to be reminded of how many phones were pushed back from advertised launch dates... much less how often speculated/rumored launch dates are WRONG??? seriously?

The benchmark ranking should be like this when its all said and done
E5 quad >Pro quad >/= E5> Pro> E4 quad.

and no one "knows" anything. We are all just making our best guess from the information available... unless you have secret sources you would like to share with the group.

Darac, grow up, seriously.

No flagship Exynos phone this year at all. Remember the Samsung Galaxy S III is the flagship. If the Exynos 5 ever sees a phone it will be the Samsung Galaxy S IV which will be out around June of 2013. That is the earliest we will ever see an Exynos 5 on a phone. Samsung saves the best for their flagship.

that may or may not be true. It really depends on how they want to classify the Note 2. They say its coming to tablets before phones. The note is a "phablet"... so they could classify it as either or.
I dont think its a huge chance that its going to be in the note, but dont count it out as a surprise for its unveiling in a few days. I also highly doubt they would wait till the SGS4 to launch it. That would put them well behind Q and probably TI as well. Pure speculation but the SGS4 would be either an upgraded E5 with higher clock and/or slightly newer Mali 6xx GPU (there are like 5 of them to chose from), or it will launch the E4 quad... but I find that less likely since thats desktop class performance with an even larger Mali6xx GPU.

I think you are reaching out now remixfa. The Galaxy Note 2 if going to be quad-core with the Exynos 4 in it. Samsung will never make the Note 2 their flagship. The Exynos 5 will only make it to the U.S. this year if it's in a TRUE tablet not a "phablet".

I really don't think Samsung will alter their recipe for success. It has worked darn well for them.

posted on 23 Aug 2012, 08:00

40. remixfa (Posts: 13903; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)

Reaching would be proclaiming we know the exact specs of the Note 2. :)

It probably will be the Quad E4, but there is still a chance that its a dual E5.

The Note 2 IS a flagship. Its a flagship of the phablet section, which is obviously growing in popularity. It does not compete with the SGS3 which is in its own "superphone flagship" category. You can have more than 1 flagship if you have more than one style of fleet... which samsung definitely does.

Their recipe for success has been power + beautiful screen + tons of features + love of XDA. Launching the E5 in the N2 does not change that.. in fact, it bolsters it.

It's all speculation either way. We will find out on what.. the 29th? Like I said, I dont think its a big chance it will be an E5 in the N2, but there is a good chance still. Its all about how Samsung wants to word "tablet/phablet/phone". Since theyve been quite sneaky lately about their products, I wouldnt assume we know much of anything about the note 2 other than basic design and size guesses.

Well if you put it that way then ok I can agree with that. Samsung has the "phablet" flagship & their smartphone flagship. Let me tell you something, if the Galaxy Note 2 has an A15 Exynos 5, that will be my next phone. Unless the new Nexus has something beastly like a 2.0 GHz quad-core S4 Pro with Adreno 320. BOTH likely not to happen. lol

lol, keep hope alive man!

Im really hoping that with everyone making their own "nexus" devices, we will stop seeing gimped nexus phones. I want to see a true nexus superphone. Not an "almost" with a gimped camera or other specs missing like they've been doing to protect their regular phone line ups. If that comes to fruition, then the chances of seeing at least the Pro dual or E5 dual in a Nexus phone sooner rather than later are slightly better. I'd actually be surprised if the Pro Dual isnt in just 1 of these supposed fleed of Nexus devices. Someone wants a leg up over samsung. My guess will be LG since they are in desperate need of tons of positive press and they are Samsung's direct Korean rival.

ill take the exynos5 dual over the Pro Quad any day of the week. A true A15 has big advantages over the Krait's pseudo A15/A9 hybrid. The pro quad is more than enough for anyone though.

Ever since the jellybean released, I have no interest about how good the chips are right now

My friend has galaxy nexus and nexus7 and I try both, and both run fast apps and same speed of internet browsing... Nothing difference... Even though galaxy nexus has older spec...

Exactly, Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean is a smooth as the butter used on Alaskan King Crab legs. Man I love sea food. lol :-)

I think the chips are getting so powerful that you meaning the customer will never be able to see the difference. Where the differences are going to be seen, will be in terms of battery life. Again Qualcomm has a distinct advantage because it ALREADY uses 28nm tech which is proven to give better battery life & performance.

Qualcomm's next gen chips will use even smaller tech than 28nm. Again HUGE advantage!

+1

P.S. I like this avatar better than your Apple avatar. lol

agree with everything except the generalized 28nm statements. Size makes a big difference. But the way it's made makes an even bigger difference, which is why Samsung's chips are still stronger per clock at 32nm and "only" an A9. slight correction to your statement :).

Also, its going to be a few years before you see anything below 28. They havent even gotten that process up to speed yet. Dont quote me on this, but off the cuff I think the next step is 22nm but your talking 2014 before we ever see anything tangible from that.

Yeah but it's proven that 28nm is more efficient that 32nm. That was my point. Battery life will be the differentiator of chip sets basically from now on because they are now just way too powerful in my opinion.

posted on 23 Aug 2012, 08:01

if the core manufacturing processes are the same, yes, then 28nm will be more efficient than 32nm.

However, its also been proven by the exynos vs the krait that if the 32nm manufacturing process is more advanced, it will still be a more powerful and less battery hungry chip than the 28nm. Thats my point. It takes more than just flour to bake a cake. :)
