Surprised Apple came in last due to iPhone popularity.

Don'tbe surprised, only very few iphone users bother to be in sites like this to respond and fight the bashers of.
I don't have iphone but I have an ipad and an Xperia S.
I do wan't to get an iphone or an Sgs3 but it seems like wherever you go theres a fight going on between the two, mostly galaxy users bringing it up, in majority.

Hey look... that's also probably going to be reflective of the the market share numbers in the next 5 years I'd say.

Victor made some pretty good points. In my opinion iOS 6 was very disappointing. It's the same app grid and most of it's "new" features Android has had for a couple years. It would have been nice to see a redesigned UI with new customization options. However WP8 looks great and looks like it will be a strong contender.

iOS 6 = I feel shame for you apple..disgrace,
Android 4.0 = Epic as always
WP8 = Finally android got a competitor.

BlackBerry OS and Symbian OS are the best.
just kidding.

Symbian is the best!! It has always had true multitasking (never put any app to sleep); it has always had widgets; it has always been customizable (even S60 can be customized way more than ios 6).

It could do all these and more before the other ones even existed!!

Yes, true insofar as its being resource efficient and still delivering the true multi-tasking plus the first with USB OTG, full file management/access, FM transmitting, customization of themes/wallpapers/tones/fonts/icons/voice navigation, large codec support, offline & online maps, leading edge mobile camera tech, etc.

BUT it lacked a cohesive ecosystem insofar as stalled app growth, a fractured user experience (a montage of disparite services), a crufty UI (until Belle and Belle FP1, which were too late), and subpar PIM management wrt synching and calendar management. It is a measureably more difficult OS to set up for the average user...though once set up it runs great.

Symbian is still an excellent OS, but for a different era. Today, carriers and OEM's are seeing more cloud connected devices. Symbian is a more idependent/converged experience in this respect and does not leverage the cloud as effectively as IOS, Android and WP. But this also means it can be more frugal in terms of operating costs...for this reason I will keep my Symbian phone for int'l travel.

IMHO, Symbian could've continued to remain a major mobile force, but Nokia simply could not afford it anymore. It simply wasn't competitive enough as an OS to maintain its leadership, in terms of both costs and time to market.

Lol not surprised by this whatsoever. The newest and best Android phones coming out can match IOSs response and smoothness while further advancing multitasking and freedom of making the device your own. Hell even mid range devices are now getting really good. Android has a phone for everyone and clearly it shows.

I have used Symbian,BlackBerry 6 and 7,and MeeGo. I haven't used Android or iOS. BB was very stable after Symbian which was frustratingly unstable too much of the time. I have to say the most useful and intuitive mobile O/S. I have used on a daily basis is MeeGo. Seamlessly plugs into my car bluetooth system, excellent voice navigation, bedside alarm clock, the lot. Unfortunately Nokia have dumped MeeGo so I'll stick with BBerry and QSXA. If they go bust Android-iOS beautiful but too expensive.

android can go down in the future due to lack of optimization of source code and updation.windows phone is best in these two services that is optimization of os and updation........it doesnt matter whether ur closed source or open source........so android be careful.................success and failure is not permanent............

i know success and failure is not permanent but android is working hard to maintain his success and try to give best and users friendly os. and change policy according to market not like nokia and apple to stuck in there policies and use same os of years with a slight change.nokia lost its market because it got stuck in its policy and taught no one can take over its market and same will happen with apple. One thing about google that i like the best is they taught the world that company can also earn billions through open market and there policies are flexible according to market.

I agree and heres why I agree. Android allows too many manufacturers to make really crappy android phones. I mean the worst of the worst. People that dont know phones talk about Android like its a product, so they expect a Razr to perform like a flimsy base model. All they care about is owning Android if their impressed by an Android phone. This mean that the base model will probably never update and get left behind rather quickly and its mainly due to the cheap crappy specs that dont support the updates and lack of popularity.

Heres why windows is better. This is from an Android fan... Windows has set a bottom line for specs. So in a sense you can always update if your phone has the specs for it! Android pushes out updates to individual phones. Windows will update all phones that the hardware can support because its like a computer. An old computer can get windows 7 if it meets the requirements for example...

I think thats wayyyyy better and wont leave old phones without updates, thats is if the specs allow them to.

I'm not surprised android won and hears why. Anyone who does polls know where you do polls make a huge difference on your outcome. If you ask people in the south about gay marriage your polls will be alot different then if you asked in the north. So if you ask people on a phone site who are generally more involved with the phone they are going to pick the os which is more involved not the casual user os aka ios. What i am surprised about is wp8 beating out ios 6. But i guess you can chalk that up to the anti-apple bias of this website for whatever reason people cling too. So obviously this poll is flawed that doesn't need to be said and is just a fun thing to do but anyone trying to get make actual observations about this poll few are parrellel to reality. And i'm sure people won't like this post since it will be precieved as pro apple but I just want to clarify it isn't. Its just merely observational.

You do realize that the second name of THIS website is iPhoneArena, right?

Bias against Apple? No sir. Every second post in this website has to do with something that relates to Apple. It's a very very very Pro-Apple website.

So yes - that means that the poll results are MORE than valid.

EXACTLY! My god try read any article or review that the writer DOESNT mention apple.

This site being called iphonearena only proves my point and here is why.

This survey was voted on by the readers and who named this site iphonearena? Well the readers of course. And they weren't talking about other readers. Nope they were talking about the writers. The writers are irrelevant though since they aren't the ones voting.
Now who is going to nickname a site iphonearena? Well people who are anti apple of course. So this proves that the large majority of the users here are against apple hence the nickname meant to make fun of any positive news towards apple written by writers. No pro apple readers would call a site iphonearena for mentioning the iphone.

First of all - the writers can also vote.

Second of all - the writers GREATLY affect the readers. Especially the Average Joe who knows shmack about phones and stuff.

Third of all - that's an unbased assumption you're making there - that the majority of people to name PhoneArena - iPhoneArena are against Apple. They could also be iPhone fans who would like to make PhoneArena even more Apple-friendly - seeing as Apple's goal is to take over the mindset of as many people as possible (oh and annihilate freedom of choice from the consumer of course).

Yes writes can vote but they are maybe five writers and this survery accounted for 5000 votes about. That affected the results by .1% I will give you that. Or otherwise an insignificant amount.

Second of all the average joe isn't on a phone site. Thats undeniable. And most people are coming onto this site with preconceived notions about phones and no matter what the writers says aren't going to be affected by them. Not to mention in actuality the writers aren't even pro apple. That nickname appeared from people who are anti-apple getting upset anytime the iphone is not mentioned as the satan of all phones

And your third point can't be serious. I assure you that people who prefer the iphone aren't brainwashed and wan't to force feed you an iphone because they get some satirical pleasure out of it. You will have to take my word.
