Mobile ESPN launches wireless phone service

Mobile ESPN has started selling online their phone and service. The service, which includes unlimited access to ESPN application as well as 35 MB of additional data, 100 text messages unlimited night / weekend calling, is available nationwide on the MVNO's website, and will work wherever Sprint has EV-DO. Mobile ESPN is starting with one phone - the black Sanyo MM-9000, offered for $500 or even for $400 with mail-in rebate. The clamshell, dual-band CDMA phone features:

  • dual 262k color TFT displays

  • EV-DO high-speed data

  • built-in 1.3 megapixels with flash and video capture

  • miniSD memory expansion slot

  • built-in speakerphone

Mobile ESPN offers a wide range of plans, starting from $65 per month for 450 minutes to $225 for 4000. Mobile ESPN is expected to launch in stores at the next Superbowl, in February 2006.
