I wonder if I'm the only one who is strangely excited to see what microsoft is going to do as their own personal competitor to the iphone. I always thought that microsoft couldn't do this due to the possibility of anti-trust, but as long as they weren't blocking any other mobile os from also integrating bing/hotmail/msn messenger they aren't being anti-competive right? but if microsoft integrated their phone closely with hotmail, msn messenger, Bing, as well as all the other microsoft product lines it would be very hard to say no to this out of sheer convienience. Here I am typing this on my Pixi, with my G1 collecting dust, dreaming about the giant screen on a HD2 but not willing to make the move due to all the craptasticness of winmo. I mean it's the same os as my PDA from 2003, just with a dialer. But the idea of a Zune HD with a dialer and full microsoft product integration sounds very sexy. I'd be willing to trade in my G1, but I'll never part with webos till something de-thrones it's awesomeness. Ramble ramble ramble...

I am also excited and waiting with anticipation, if not a little trepidation. I think that they have a great opportunity to create an amazing product, but how well it is received remains to be seen. There is a lot of bad PR out there for Windows/WM even thought the installed base of products that use th OS's is huge. They have to overcome that negative perception that Apple is driving and deliver a product that not only goes above and beyond but also appeals to a wider range of consumers than just those who are familiar with the industry, and garner the developer support to attract a thriving economy around the phone. Look at the Zune performance against the iPod even though the Zune is arguably the better device as an example of how hard this will be.Having said that, I am very happy with WM 6.1 on my HTC Touch Pro and all the free Apps I have installed on it. I like the Zune software on my PC and think that it has a great chance to refresh the WM interface so that it has a shot of turning the tide and making WM sexy...
