Microsoft's Stephen Elop gets to tell everyone how it feels to be back at Microsoft, when he makes a keynote speech during "Super Mobility Week" in Las Vegas. The week-long event begins on September 9th. Elop isn't likely to announce new Lumia models at the event, but is expected to discuss future plans for Lumia and Surface models...

Thank you, Captain Obvious. That's like saying without eyes you wouldn't be able to see.

Lol yeah true or like without Samsung and other Android OEMs Android market share would be non existent.

Samsung sells 34-36% of all Android devices now. Samsung sold the lions share at the beginning, but now they are down to almost a 1/3.

Samsung has more than 30% of the smartphone market. Without Samsung, Android would've definitely NOT been at the top. They would've been in second place, behind Apple (iOS), and WP would be giving them a lot more competition with a lot more marketshare.

Anyone who thinks Microsoft doesn't have any hardware problems with WP is an idiot. What I mean to say is the physical hardware is fine, but Microsoft wants OEMS to make WP devices using their restricted hardware profile for WP, and then you have to compete with Microsoft's Nokia hardware division and devices which has over 90% of all WP device sales, plus its a small market to begin with when you factor in Android and iOS. It was totally different back n the PC/laptop days. OEMS could use any hardware they like. This just cannot be done with WP. You have to use a certain class of CPU from only one OEM, a certain display type and size, specific radios. Microsoft wants to give the illusion that its just like the old days where you take their software and install in on your hardware. WP can't be any further away from the that.

You fandroids cry about how some Android OEMs add too much or spoil the Android experience with many features or too much of a skin. And then you'll come to WP articles and whine about how MS doesn't allow customization of WP for different OEMs. I seriously don't get you people.

And all you do is get into a mudslinging business of making an android vs WP war for no reason whenever someone makes a valid point instead of replying with your constructive counter argument.

ohh lol xperiafanzone hahaha can't believe you are that dumb..
Let me explain it for you
Windows phone had many oems like HTC , samsung ,dell, huwaei who were producing windows phone before nokia .. Nokia came in and adopted windows phone and started developing exclusive APPs , bringing great features and putting more resources than smasung , htc , huawei after seeing this sammy and other OEMs got afraid as they coudn't compete with nokia and abondened WP ( releasing only 1 or 2 devices just to show they are partners of wp without ever caring for them)
i was saying had there been no nokia windows phone wouldn't have even got to single digits even if Samsung, htc ,huawei were putting in more resources than they actually did
because WP was so unappealing and Incapable OS.. before windows 8 it was crap , windows phone 8 had too high hopes and failed miseably , windows phone 8.1 is a solid update that should have been there at the time of windows 8 .. People bought windows phone only because of Nokia and not the OS or to put it an other way ... all the loyal nokia fans that held 35 % market share out of them around 30 % decided not to buy a a nokia because it was not running android and ran Windows phone
and around 2-2.5 % share was only because lumia 520 was sold at a loss...
so do you still get it or not or do you need more explanation ? Captain Not So Obvious :P

You can't guarantee that Nokia making Android would help them even more. A lot of people I know with Nokia doesn't care about the OS at all.

You're right. Nokia is keeping WP afloat. But WP already had potential. It would've blossomed if any ONE major OEM would have completely on board with and made only or a lot more WPs, like a Samsung or HTC. Nokia did that first and sold quite a lot of it, hence helping WP or "saving Microsoft's ass".

I guess Elop finally got his junior membership in the Masters of Evil.

Can you die already good for nothing greedy bastUrd
12. NokiaFTW (Posts: 2058; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
Some shills will pop up or have already popped up and barking about Elop being a "trojan horse". You idiots need to get your brains functioning again. That company was already dying when Elop took, being eaten away by Apple and Samsung. You people just need an excuse to hate on MS, who you say are "monopolistic". Go to Wikipedia and look up the meaning of monopoly and trojan. Stupid plastic people who call themselves tech enthusiasts.

I don't need elop to don't like microsoft. I still remember about DR-DOS, Novel, Netscape, OS/2.

At the moment WP's growth seems to be at the low end. Msft is merging WP and RT, which could lead to quite powerful phones. We'll see.
