Microsoft's Ballmer calls Apple a "low volume player" in all markets except tablets

0. phoneArena 30 Oct 2012, 10:52 posted on

Steve Ballmer sat down with the Wall Street Journal and told the financial daily that the launches of Windows 8 and the Microsoft Surface tablet were not spectacular and that numerically, there was nothing to report and when asked about Apple, he called them a "low volume player" in its markets save for tablets...

You do realize this is the same guy that said Google copied Apple just a few days ago...right? So apparently he doesn't think Android is a good OS for tabs either...

I think he said that because of the user interface..
like apples icons, oh look android has really similar looking icons too
thats where microsoft is different
but either way yes

usually i dont agree with a lot of stuff steve says but in this case he is right. Apple has one high selling product and MS Surface is going to wipe it out!

It's good for Apple that there are better products on the market that forces them to innovate, which is not been doing for a long time. Innovate - No improvement.

no worries, steve here really needs to sell his butt off to compete with apple or samsung sales.

he can say he is king in PC (props to that)

but hey baldy your windows hasnt even hit the shore yet and your downing others. better put your mouth where it belongs. not in between apple and samsung and that is for sure.

plus he hates android and he is only rooting for windows whether good or bad cause his job depends on it.

are you surprised ?

this is just a gimmick to sell nothing more nothing less.
you know what a true competitor is? when he recognizes the good in his opponent and praises them for leading innovation while at the same time being creative as well.

the surface is the definition of creativity. cause it is soo unique and stands out on its own. but at the end of the day its...........windows....like yuck. i have a pc asshole give me something new.

but i guess thats just how things are in this life.

Good point Steve!

And we can say MS is a low volume company except in PC. LOL

Quite true. Until MS starts putting up WP8 sales numbers in the 10s of millions, it is all spin.

They will be, but like he said people gotta try it out, or they won't know how good it is. Until then, people will keep buying Iphones because its the cool thing to do. SMH

Still doesn't change the fact that MS is a low volume company except in PCs.

dude, how long have the wp been out,
theyve accomplished so much in that short amount of time
apple had no one to compete with when they came out, they were unique, back then
so it was easy for them to get a lot of sells
microsoft actually has work to do
it wont happen over night but it will happen
wp hasnt gone up much here in the US but every where else its catching on

i know that the windows 8 software is nice and surface is a really really good tablet but i think that it is not in the position to say apple a low volume player.

i think most guys will miss the point the term is bussiness model he is refering too low volume yes they are. the Apple works on profit and Demand in market unlike android they keep the supply chain limited to what they expect will be sold very quick . i think he is refering to that point and not saying that people dont buy it. maybe some buisseness guy can elaborate more on it

Nokia still sells a million phones a day, and Samsung has equivalent figures. Samsung is also around the 100 million smartphones yearly level as well, so it's really not that many.

I feel bad for the Chinese workers who have to put so many of the things together though. They should be paid equivalent to first-world workers.
