Microsoft to strike with an updated WM6.5 touch interface

What would happen if Windows Mobile gets an intuitive touch interface designed for use with capacitive screens? Something quite interesting indeed and according to sources at Taiwanese handset makers, cited by DigiTimes, we will actually see something similar in February 2010. It is rumored that an update for Windows Mobile 6.5 will be rolled out in February that would bring a new intuitive “touch interface” to the system (could this have to do with the leaked 23022 build?). The story grows even more interesting as it seems Microsoft will not phase out WM6.5 once it has released Windows Mobile 7 (reportedly coming Q4 2010). Rather, the Redmond-based company will lower the price of WM6.5 in order to compete with Android-based handsets, while WM7 products will focus on dethroning the iPhone. Honestly, we can’t wait to see what Microsoft is preparing for us.

It means they will provide 2 different types of UI for different users who have different needs. Whereas apples iPhone is a great product, but it doesn't suit everyone. So microsoft wants to compete for multiple users' needs. it is a smart phone.

*Cough *Cough MS cannot defeat the iPhone OS. I've seen how laggy the WM is and it won't beat Apple iPhone OS that easily.
