Don't be too sure of that. Just because they have a seemingly-close relationship as far as phones go doesn't mean it extends to tablets. Windows denied one of its oldest allies in HTC because of their "lack of experience" in making tablets, and Nokia has even less. Also, with the exception of Apple and Samsung, it looks like phone manufacturers should stick to phones, and tablet manufacturers should stick to tablets, as their respective forays into each others' territory hasn't historically come off too well. LG, Motorola, HTC, and Sony all have pretty much failed to attract attention to their tablets, and Toshiba, HP, and ASUS haven't done much of anything as far as phones go.

At any rate, most recent reports suggested that Nokia was going to wait until at least 2013 to move into the tablet market, and that's apparently when MS is widening the door anyways.

Microsoft probably wants the leading PC or tablet makers the first crack at it for a better initial experience. They dont want shovelware makers like Archos on board until consumers accept Windows 8.

I am hoping one of these manufacturers make a 8" slate tablet! If not; I am pushed to go with the mini iPad that is coming out on the 23rd! I will wait till November to buy but the 10" and 11" models are just to bulky and heavy for my needs. 8" is just perfect!
