Microsoft knocks Google's Android for "copying" Apple's iOS
0. phoneArena 29 Oct 2012, 12:52 posted on
It's an accusation that we've heard before, mostly from Steve Jobs, but Microsoft has also taken the time to jab at Google and its Android OS. During the announcement for Windows Phone 8, Joe Belfiore took a swing at Android, claiming the OS copied Apple's UI and that design in those companies has "stagnated"...

Oh Microsoft you...Do you really think all these insults would make live tiles seem pretty and are a good idea? Because no, Live Tiles are still ugly, and widgets are still better in terms of information feeding...

Live tiles are better then widgets for info as it happens...........I think most android users have gotten to attached and developed some kind of os superiority complex.
Something new trying to make a mark and you all slate it straight away, if your that happy then stay with android

You can pretty much set your refresh time to 1 sec if you want for android widgets. And you're not limited to an ugly flat rectangle. How is live tiles gonna be any different from iOS icons in a few months? Sure it look pretty now (I'm talking about iOS icons, Live tiles were never pretty for me, but thats just me), but in a couple of months to a year and it'll be stale again...
28. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
Seeing as the iPhone icons are nothing to do with feeding info you can't compare. Besides even android becomes stale yes you can customize it in many ways but after appoint all your doing is changing the wallpaper and layout and icons ocassionally.
But there are lots of people who set there phone up and that's it, they want ease of use and live tiles does that better then normal widgets.
Also going back to the ios icons they lasted a good 4 years so aint bad. Also theres an app for android to turn the layout to look like wp8 so looks like even android users out there some like the minimalistic look

Tiles might be slightly better in functionality, but he's right, they're still ugly. If MS had offered them as widgets that can be added as desired, great. When tiles is all you get, and all you can have on your screen, no thanks.

But if they had done normal widgets....all you would hear is Android fans shouting how they copied etc
Basically nothing new will be accepted as too many android users believe that android will take over everything ....even PC's
I like android but I want more choice etc least wp8 is differant and as for the tiles that's preference some like them some dont

I as a rep. in the cellphone industry have to test different phones for 3 months at a time, and that wp7 is a dissapointment. But I can say it was better than a blackberry :P. they better step their game up if they really want to contend with apple and google. till then they should not talking down to google.

Ill go so far as to say yes its different but live tiles arent as good as widgets they also arent as interactive its a great counter system and do more updating with news but its even more stale i guess its also a matter of seeing just squares and rectangles that idk bores me but it was the same with ios.

The notification center is better than live tiles concept because say a notification came up,you need to see that live tile to see that info....who on earth will be glued to the screen to see all the information being updated..android approach has more control..live tiles may seem pretty with less content but as you add more and more live tiles, your homescreen just becomes a jungle....

A pathetic marketing scheme as well. Because Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 was such a success wasn't it? I'd like to see how Windows Phone 8 does in the next few years...

what is live tile? - Simplified boring widget boasted as ground breaking innovation by MS.
and the WP8 is 1 year behind Android.
MS = old and failing company.
20. drahmad (Posts: 480; Member since: 20 Aug 2011)
ms is realy failing company except that google has never earned more than Ms and now we are witnessing the decline of google for the last three quarters missing analysts expectations in the latest quarter

This is b-c Motorola is in restructuring process, Android is stronger than ever.
When it comes to innovation and value to customers Google is the best.
But you can donate your hard earn money to enrich MS and Apple with little in return if you like of course.

what was the last innovative stuff in android and the date of the thing tell me about it :P bragger

Google recently passed Microsoft to be the second most valuable tech company in the world and getting closer to apple. So I don't see what you're trying to get at as Google seems to be doing excellent.
57. haseebzahid (Posts: 1853; Member since: 22 Feb 2012)
correct on first statment but very very wrong on 2nd apple is way ahead of both MS and Google because of their pathtic heavy prices its will take google lot more time to get to them
