Asked after the announcement event whether its poor manufacturing partners knew about Surface, Microsoft's Steve Ballmer said: "Our PC partners knew in advance we were announcing something today in this space,” but added "no comment" when asked how they felt about the news...

Hmm if Microsoft just sells their Surface Tablets in their Microsoft stores or online at a Microsoft internet site Then it's OEM partners Windows 8 Tablet sales will not be greatly effected because they will be selling their Products at BestBuy's, Sears, Kmart
Wal-Mart, Radio shack and at online sites like Tiger direct.com, PC connection and ect.. the Microsoft stores that are going up around country will also be selling an array of products and it makes sense that they sell a Windows signature PC and Tablet and other products with the Microsoft Name on them. Microsoft is no NEWBY to selling their own brand name Products and they also sell the Xbox. also Microsoft has been selling tablets made by others online for some time now so Their OEM partners can and probably will sell their Tablets online at a Microsoft Web site and Microsoft stores to give their customers a good choice of Windows tablets to chose from
