playing too safe... that would not help WP devices.. my fear is becoming alive, just like what WP did when they are making wp7 that winmo will not be closed and be treated as windows classic then suddenly turn of events happened. and winmo marketplace will be shut down.. if thats the case, people would probably wait for the wp8 devices and will no longer consider wp7.5 devices. but if i will be optimistic with that i think apollo will be another wp os for high-end devices that will support higher RAM and dual cores and all current wp now will soon be their midrange devices that will carry mango os its a good news for the OS but bad news for us users >:I

I think that they are doing the hush-hush stuff for the OEM's. If they say they will be able to get the upgrade it may be hard for the OEM to convince buyers to get new phones unless they are huge steps up from where they are now. WP is in a bad place right now it seems. They are growing but they need something to propel the OS and the options are limited. How do they compete with the others? Specs, price, design?

The way i see it is, if second gen handsets get the Apollo update then so should first. There are only minor differences between the two generations. So if neither get the update, everyone will be pissed. Microsoft can't afford to piss everyone off like that. For me this was a big selling point of windows phones and what finally sold me on my HTC Radar.
