2 wins out of how many fiascos?

-Microsoft missed the mp3 player race... for being late among other things....
-Then came smartphone failures... Kin anyone? (back when BB where populars)
-Windows Vista...
-Now more recently... W8 has potential but right now feels very restricted in the way you interact, specially without a touchscreen...
-Tablets... (RT)
-Xbox One

Common, Microsoft could making more efforts innovating and being followed... but ever since this guy came along, they are the ones following everybody elses ideas... (with the 2 exceptions you mentioned)

Xbox is their shining moment since uncle Willy retired but this guy, wow... ummm... he let Apple run absolutely wild on his watch. If it weren't for Google we all would be eating fruit right now. Geez Balmer, you really stunk up the joint

Microsoft market cap when Bill Gates retired (year 2000):

2000: 586,197
2006: 293,537
2013: 239,602.3

Bill Gates is simply not replaceable, as I said before, Gates and Jobs are one of a kinders, geniuses, legends. Apple will soon face a similar fate with the loss of Steve Jobs

"Apple will soon face a similar fate with the loss of Steve Jobs"

What do you mean by 'soon'? Their market cap has already dropped.

What Bill Gates has been accomplishing through his foundation are more important than running Microsoft and we should all applaud him for that.

what u r talking dude!!!!
he just ruin the nokia
for example china is world largest smartphone market where symbian on the top and......
elop abandon the symbian
its causes the sudden shift of consumer & developers towards android and give an edge to samsung and other ANDROID OEMS
he also abandon meego and I think no platform is as good as meego in their first iteration.
he needs to revamp symbian and develop meego side by side also he have a partner like intel which can boost meego
BUT HE recieving M$ under the table from MSFT and AT&T(nokia L620 available on at& t for just 100$(gsmarena))

Everybody copies good ideas.. Hell they all copied wm on some level but that doesn't mean that wm should still be running.

Elop did not ruin Nokia He set out to make Nokia Windows smart phones the BEST AND HE DID. HE beat Samsung,
HTC, LG, and the rest of the Windows smart phone OEM's and the best Nokia Windows smart phones are coming out later this year. I agree Nokia could and should make at least 2 good Android smart Phones to bring in some extra cash but they can do that in the future if they wish to
