this is great. waiting to use full windows on phone. and they should have brought full windows on surface rather than WinRT. future is bright for MS if they continue to be faster like they are becoming. By the way how is windows phone 8.1 comparing to android(not meant negative).

loving it, there are a few hiccups but nothing major for a pre-release and should be ironed out come full release. For the most part, the phone is faster and the new added tiles are great even on a 4.5in 925

This is the best thing to happen to WP's app ecosystem since WP8, and 2013... This will most definitely have a huge impact on the variety of apps available for WP devices.. It's a huge deal, bigger than most people realize...

Agreed.. This opens the doors for a large amount of apps to be created for WP..

Apps that can run on the entire Windows ecosystem, which includes Windows Phone, Windows RT, Xbox, and Windows, itself. For example, you can download an app on your Windows Phone, and run it on your Surface as well. Great news indeed!

This is fantastic news for WP, and the Windows ecosystem on a whole! Microsoft / Windows /WP is really shaping up to be a contender! Can't wait for WP8.1 to be released so that I can enjoy it on my Lumia 925.

Windows / Microsoft needs to make a more universal app development experience more universal period. Developing apps and official apps on Windows Phone should be as easy or easier than Android or iOS. Windows and Microsoft are software GIANTS I just don't understand why they fail to provide an easier experience to develop apps.
I love my Windows Phone but sometimes I miss the availability of common apps, games and even efficient web browsing.

efficient web browsing? never had an issue with ie on the phone.
As for apps....well lets just say people love java i suppose, android made it easy for free java apps to be built in a coffee shop with a converter doing the work.
Windows supports the most common widely used c++ yet people are using java. Windows supports html5 app building.
It is not about making the apps easier to develop for, the process is rather easy already. And no different than if you were trying to build a java app for x64 and arm side by side. The difference is where the companies are putting their dollars for development, and not the 'ease' of development.

Yes on my Lumia 520 device when I use Phonearena its really not stable. I literally have to do tricks to even comment on a reply.
Now on my wife's LG G2 the Chrome browser seems to work as a Mouse when I click things stay.
I believe and know what your saying is true about the apps. But why are there so few and many major companies dont have official apps for Windows Phone 8
