Microsoft asks if you are getting “scroogled” – Bing vs. Google

Bing is launching a campaign in “honest searching” taking direct shots at Google in the process and trying to get...

this is a cheap shot cuz this is pretty much the ONLY way google gets paid.......through ads......as everything else google offers is damn near close to FREE!
nice try bing
5. MeoCao (unregistered)
But boy, this is hilarious, I like the ads.
But I know Google does nothing wrong, it's about relevency not cheapest price so the search result is fair. When people pay for the search they are more likely involved in the business than not.
And there's a question: how Bing makes money?
7. XPERIA-KNIGHT (unregistered)
maybe .......ads?....lol and maybe just not as good as Google so maybe thats why the sore attitude? .........then again i could easily be wrong

Microsoft is so incompetent that he losses money with Bing ;-)
And no one trusts Microsoft...... just search 2 terms:
"corruption Microsoft" on the internet..... He has bribed almost every country in the world.....
40. TheOldOne (Posts: 96; Member since: 29 Mar 2012)
you can go even further: search "corruption Microsoft" in google and then in bing LOOOL
47. anywherehome (Posts: 971; Member since: 13 Dec 2011)
Great, this is a proof that Microsoft intentionally adjusts its results..... Never trust to Microsoft..... Thank you for the confirmation

I rather trust the company that tells you when your their costumer, than the company that treats you as their personal poll result, and then sell you out for the highest bidder..
well maybe thats just me being oldfashioned?
46. anywherehome (Posts: 971; Member since: 13 Dec 2011)
Microsoft would very like do the same..... But they are incompetent......
And I have no problems with Google advertisement..... They have no personal access to my data, my data processes just computers..... Google is publishing statistics about accessing your data by governments....... Microsoft even perfectly cooperates with US officials via Skype.... Just search on internet ;-)
Google stands on our side of freedom.... Anything else is just FUD from those who are worried about internet freedom
49. jtech (Posts: 101; Member since: 14 Jul 2011)
You can search the same for google genius and what google does with all that information and logs they create of searches coming from your ip is monstrous
50. anywherehome (Posts: 971; Member since: 13 Dec 2011)
But I like Google's recommendation = ads very much ;-)

The picture is so ironic because I'm reading a book in class called ,"A Christmas Carol" and Ebenezer Scrooge is the main character!!!!!!!!

I hate someone criticized something and yet they never experienced it before...
The main advantage of choosing Bing is that they won't provide scam result from what you search... Although it is not as accurate as Google, Bing is much safer than Google...
Besides, it's just a commercial, so stop hating please...
9. XPERIA-KNIGHT (unregistered)
i guess thats the same argument with android and ios .......one is more open sourced while the other is more..... "safe"...... :(
you choose right?
11. wendygarett (unregistered)
I'm tired of this back pedalling and excuses bro :(
Why don't you tried yourself...

It would make perfect sense that you like Bing-a-Ling; perfect match for your iPhone.
I don't even use Internet Explorer anymore; haven't used it since 2007. Talk about 'Scroogling' an end-user, what about when Bing-a-Ling automatically sets itself as the default search engine on other browsers. I would only use IE at this point if I had to do some kind of MS update or MS download.
As for prioritizing search results, Google offers "Advanced" or "More Search Tools" in the left pane. As a consumer, if you buy the first thing you see, don't b¡tch about later.
10. wendygarett (unregistered)
Plus, the results is much tidy and well arranged than Google... Get your fact right
13. XPERIA-KNIGHT (unregistered)
Wendy im not going to even consider "trying" this becasue for one, NO BODY was criticizing bing for being an "incapable" search engine! So before you approach me like that, read what i was defending instead of going with your assumptions!
We were talking about bing basically calling Google out on "stealing", in a small sense, from people through ads..........JUST BECAUSE they feel they offer better in that category...
And refusing to tell the WHOLE PICTURE, which is Google specializes in offering damn near SERVICE FREE things.......and the "main" and almost ONLY way, Google pretty much brings in revenue, according to a late article here on PA, is through there ads!
So while they may be "charging" slightly more here than what bing offers, it is for a reason......such as Izzy V stated.....for business purposes..........please chill out with out that
14. wendygarett (unregistered)
I understand now :D
My misunderstood once again...
It just that I'm can't control my emotion recently after the pa "bias" article lol
16. XPERIA-KNIGHT (unregistered)
shut up wendy .......you're trying to piss me off! why am i pissed? cuz i DO NOT like when someone tries to make somthing MORE than what it is......YOU get your "facts" straight before approaching me like that next time......

wendy is a biggest troll on pa, he/she should be get rid, and you should ignore him in the 1st place
20. XPERIA-KNIGHT (unregistered)
sorry i feel as if im apart of this website now....and even "trolls" need to be addressed sometimes
22. wendygarett (unregistered)
I'm sorry that I won't silent just like that bro... I won't let the hatred spread just like that... I believe you will defend the hatred spreading as well...
Anyway, I love your previous avatar... That's cute... This avatar is kinda fierce me out lol... Sorry for my honesty once again

Bing is intrusive..... 'Get YOUR fact right'!
45. Hammerfest (Posts: 369; Member since: 12 May 2012)
I have customers who would definitly beg to differ...
Fixing PC's is a PITA, and BING or GOOGLE or Yahoo, there is little difference...
35. Valdomero (Posts: 121; Member since: 13 Nov 2012)
Google indeed get paid through ads, also by their Google Apps for Business, which you pay $5/user a month after a 30-day trial or Google Apps for Business with Vault, which is $10/user a month with additional features.
Actually is pretty good, I created my domain through Google (Go Daddy as host), I just had to set the domain name and create the e-mail users.

I rarely use google nowadays. Too cluttered, and the recent changes to privacy policies (even when using InPrivate mode) make me nervous. Bing's quick, efficient, and I get to see a pretty (and cool) image when I load up the website (although most searches are done through my Windows Phone)
2. Izzy_V (Posts: 216; Member since: 07 Jul 2012)
With the prices it's putting on its tablets, it shouldn't be talking about greed. Microsoft is doing well, it shouldn't start with any of this BS like other companies have.
3. XPERIA-KNIGHT (unregistered)
exactly and not tryna act like google is "flawless" but i think we know enough around here to say Google is "least" greedy when i comes to things like this.......

big is usless like bing maps and microsoft in general. In installed windows 8 and what a mistake, its awful.
If android ever enter the pc market i would gladly sign up
15. big.e927 (Posts: 94; Member since: 21 Nov 2012)
Uhhh, they already have. They're called chromebooks, Samsung has a few out and Acer does too, pretty good products too.
43. -box- (Posts: 3823; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
if by "pretty good" you mean "works pretty much with just web activities and not much else, and the Acer feels sadly cheap" then yes.
That said, I'm considering picking up the $200 Acer (despite its cheap build) and installing Windows on it to use as a larger, cheaper, faster alternative to a netbook for when I troubleshoot customers' computers, presuming it'll work without any conflicts.
33. gazmatic (Posts: 625; Member since: 06 Sep 2012)
android IS in the pc market.... "chromebook"
17. someones4 (Posts: 619; Member since: 16 Sep 2012)
Bing does it itself.. hypocrites. I don't see microsoft provide as much free stuff as Google.
23. roscuthiii (Posts: 1843; Member since: 18 Jul 2010)
Cute Microsoft, very cute... Bing however is still a red-headed step child of search for me. Every now and then I give it another try but Google's results are still more relevant.
Bing is the Apple (iOS) Maps of search. A polished turd is still a turd.
44. -box- (Posts: 3823; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
Apparently you haven't tried other search engines. Bing is on-par (and sometimes better) than google, and blows yahoo, aol, etc out of the water.

"Google owns the search market. " - PA, I've told you MULTIPLE times: Hire educated people, educated. This means at least 2 foreign languages and at least one Master degree. SInce 2010 Google is losing market share in the search engines business. In countries like India, for example, Bing alone has about 15% or even more market share. In June 2012 Google has 66%, Bing and Yahoo combined has the rest. Are you guys hiring people for free?
29. AlexYouOC (Posts: 53; Member since: 19 Jun 2012)
Yahoo and Bing combined have the rest of the market share ? So you're saying they split that 34% while Google enjoys 66% to itself ? Let me Bing why thats a bad thing lol
30. AlexYouOC (Posts: 53; Member since: 19 Jun 2012)
"Let me Bing"...... thats sounds stupid smh
32. anirudhshirsat97 (Posts: 398; Member since: 24 May 2011)
I tried using Bing, turns out its still worse, correct that, much worse than google..
34. Schuler2828 (Posts: 56; Member since: 04 Jul 2012)
Google is the best and the only choice.
Step 1. Install Google Chrome
Step 2. Google search Google ad block
Step 3. Install Google ad block for free
Step 4. Live A free.

Great point - that is what I done for a few years now - also add step 3A. Get DO NOT TRACK PLUS to protect your privacy.
And, make chrome and gmail default apps on your windows PC.
37. Jyakotu (Posts: 822; Member since: 12 Dec 2008)
People really sleep on Bing. It's not that bad of a search engine. And it's pretty too.
39. networkdood (Posts: 6276; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
I not find it any better than Google and in fact I find that Google gives better results at times.
