WP8.1 looks great! Watch out Google & Apple!

Watch out? Both platforms had these features for years now.

Sure Android & iOS have had these features for quite a while, but Cortana seems better than Siri & Google Now and that could be a killer feature.

It might be better than Siri but I have yet to see how it performs against Google Now.

I'm interested in Cortana, but otherwise WP 8.1 is just Microsoft playing catch up with iOS and Android.

Hey catch up is good and we need this badly. Now bring in a decent device and I'll give it a try. Decent other than Nokia.

Hopefully, now that the camera button and capacitive buttons are optional, OEM's will be able to make their flagship devices for both Android and WP. Also, all WP devices will be able to use Nokia Here Drive.

My thoughts exactly, there's nothing in particular that truly stands out. I guess they 1st had to catch-up before they truly innovate.

I'm glad to see WP has come this far though, the hardware and software are almost exactly on par with Android (Android still has a few things over WP though) but for 90% of Smartphone users I think WP in WP8.1 is now right there next to Android, we now have a well balanced OS to compete with Android, and it also has a variety of phones from a variety of manufacturers, I'm not a fan of MS really BUT I love competition, and WP8.1 should help MS gather up a lot more marketshare and get Apple, Google and Samsung innovating again. Awesome times ahead.

I'm looking forward to the next version of WP. Hopefully by then they'll be done catching up and will focus on developing unique and useful features. Until then, I'll keep on rolling with Android, because this is just an update with features I already have, and it isn't worth trying out.

Did you say that when Android and iOS were catching up with Symbian, WIndows Mobile and Black Berry OS?

Remember when iOS couldn't do Copy and Paste and MMS or when Android couldn't do video recording or when neither OS had an application store or when they had low resolution screens or other areas that were lacking?

Each OS, like any software matures over time as features are added and things are improved. Whatever OS you are using is the way it is today after years of improvements.

There are things that iOS and Android are still missing but all that matters is that they eventually get those things IF the developers plan on adding whatever features that people deem to be missing.

Not much to look out for. I have an iPhone 5 and Note 3 along with a Lumia 1020. On my Note 3 and iPhone 5 I don't use the assistants much nor do most people I know so it won't matter much.

To me what matters is for Apple and Microsoft is finally put the ability for me to reply to any email and insert any document and file like my Note 3 or Android has for years.

I'm pretty sure he's pointing out that 4.1 was actually Jelly Bean, not ICS, and Google Now didn't appear until Jelly Bean

This is nothing amazing. Watch when Apple adds more feature to their UI and iOS 8. Watch when android add new updates. phones like S4, z1, iphone 5s, lg g2 and htc one m7 is becoming cheaper and those phones are still better than 930!
