For a device rumored to be within two months of reaching its End of Life designation, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is all of a sudden getting a lot of play. On Monday, we told you about a new Microsoft commercial that featured the handset with the 41MP rear-facing camera. Now, it turns out that the online Microsoft Store has started selling an unlocked version of the phone, in black, for the price of $549. Shipping is on the house...

Seems rather expensive considering it's specs are more in line with mid range devices; the only high end aspects appear to be the camera and RAM (2GB). Perhaps if it was $200-300 price range I would consider getting it.

RM-877 - 3G: 850 / 900 /1900 / 2100. 3G radio would be problematic to get faster speed on HSPA+. It lacks 1700. If you're not on 4G LTE coverage area you'll fallback to 2G EDGE. I would NOT recommend this for T-Mobile USA users.

HSPA+ has been reframed on the 1900MHz band for quite some time now..

You're right. However, there are only a few cities with refarmed 1900. Majority are still on 1700/2100 on HSPA+.

Will this phone still receive updates after it's no longer available?

Yes, it will, or at least it should. MS has promised updates for ALL Windows Phones for at least 3 years. If they don't provide you with the updates, you can sue them!

I have this phone right now and, honestly, I prefer the images and video taken with my Nexus 5.

I'm just 21, but I can safely say that I have now seen everything in my life. It's time for me to stop breathing. Let me just tweet about this and instagram my last selfie, from the mediocre camera on my L1520.

I am laughing so hard right now. I say this with the least bit of bias as I can... Speaking purely about the camera... Lets please not compare the Nexus 5 with any high end Lumia... Especially not the KING PIN of smartphones (again, strictly using the camera as measured variable.)
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... My Lumia 925 runs circles around my nexus 5 when it comes to multimedia.

This price... Is really making my d soft, so to speak. I know the optical image quality is unsurpassed on a mobile device till this day (save for the 808), but c'mon Microsoft. This price is embarrassingly close to the price of a 2014 flagship. Even $500 would have been more palatable.

I liked Nokia until this phone. Even the 920 performed better for me. It was really strange. I returned the phone 6 times to Nokia and got 3 different units all with problems. 1st was the Xbox Music app would not work. At all no matter how I reset. So they sent me a new unit. However this unit had TERRIBLE mura effect on it. Nokia made a terrible screen. I returned it twice because of this problem. They then sent me a used unit with scratches on it. That also got replaced. When I received the next unit I got it with a worst Mura effect screen and the Microphone didnt work. I returned it and they sort of fixed teh screen but again the microphone didn't work. Now I am waiting again for it to come back. I guess me and the 1020 were not meant to be. Sucks too. That camera was too boss and I filmed some great concert shots. :(

Curious if this has an updated radio to use all T-mobile bands, or will it only work on some LTE and 4G areas and not all..? I will get it if its good on all bands, but thought the original one from AT&T unlocked wouldnt work on all Tmo bands.
