When we hear about anti-competitive lawsuits against a corporation in Europe, that is usually Microsoft with its endless Windows browser bundling, but this time around Microsoft...

What are they talking about???
Google gives a option to make your own ecosystem with android..like amazon does with kindle fire...but all oem likes to stay with google..is there that kind of option wroth wp??? No..
So they ms guilty here..

If two years from now these companies managed to strip Android of extra apps (maps, search, etc.) the first thing I would do after getting an Android phone is download Maps, enable Google search and any other Google apps that I use today because there is no other better alternative! Years ago I always downloaded Firefox and made it my default browser because it was BETTER than IE, not because MS got sued. These companies just don't understand why people aren't buying/using their products. They're just idiots.

How is Google being deceptive when consumers choose to use their products because they're good?
This sounds like classic butthurt from those companies "People are using Google more than ours, we must sue so that Google won't be as effective and people will have no choice but to use our services."
It's the exact reason why cable companies are using data caps, so people will stream less movies and TV shows and watch cable TV instead. Cable companies can make the same excuse if they wanted to go after Netflix or Hulu.
Google has made a service that works and works well and people prefer to use it, that's not locking out competition. It's the consumer's preference.

This is because Google restricted there services on wp. Until a few months ago people couldn't load a decent youtube site in there browser unless they changed the user agent to something other than wp, which suggests Google was deliberately blocking the full site from loading on wp.

I can't believe how dumb the android fanboys actually are. This is like Microsoft/Nokia saying :
"Yes, you can use Skype on the ROM, but you have to include Bing as the default search engine and HERE Maps for GPS navigation".

They are just having a knee jerk reaction. Anyone who files a lawsuit against Google is an evil patent troll. Always in Google's defense even when they are blatantly at fault. Its obvious no one bothered to even understand this lawsuit.
64. darac (Posts: 2156; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
They're being stupid?
My God, how blind can you Microsoft loving jerks can be?
Can you imagine Google suing Microsoft in a similar manner?
51. shikroi (Posts: 187; Member since: 24 Sep 2012)
I think this over the fact that until recently Google has been limiting its services on wp. Remember when youtube and google.com only used to load the mobile site, and it was found that if you use an app to chane your device name from wp it loaded both sites desktop versions. Gmail on wp is also garbage.
“uses deceptive conduct to lockout competition in mobile.”
Meaning that with Google monoply on internet video, search, etc. If they decide to restrict there services on other platforms, consumers using platforms like wp will be affected. I mean wp still doesn't have a YouTube app and when someone puts one up google fights it down.

No Good MS..Googles plan is working. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Instead of worrying about Google Search, you'd better keep your eyes on Android merging with Chromebook. Google has their eyes set on challenging you and apple in the Pc market, and with Googles track record, I wouldn't bet against them.

sorry for being long
guys, guys just have a look at this article fromwww.fairsearch.org (17 companies) that sue google
they say a lot about google and essentially android
and i list some - AS STATED IN THE WEBSITE
1) Android’s share of the smartphone OS market grew to 70.1% by units shipped in Q4 of 2012, up from 52.9% in the same quarter a year earlier, IDC reported late last week (see here for the full report), mirroring numbers for the full-year.
(but you companies put #ANDROIDRAGE in twitter???)
2) Android’s predatory distribution strategy licenses the dominant smartphone OS for free to device-makers at below-cost pricing that no other company can compete against.
(but you companies say yours is the most competent OS!!! and add "OS reinvented around you"???)
3) Google Play is the default app store on Android phones, giving Google authority over which apps gain access to the market.
(now what, you want itunes and apple's app store and even put Windows marketplace in android??? I welcome it!!!)
So what actually is your problem* (to the 17 companies)?
*- note : nothing against you WP and Nokia fans, just defending android!

"3) Google Play is the default app store on Android phones, giving Google authority over which apps gain access to the market."
Ok....this is all I had to see. They are complaining about this??? Seriously???
I want iTunes on my Maxx HD....NOW. I want WP marketplace on my phone ...NOW.
Never mind Amazon has an app store for Android...and its no problem to have it on your Android phone....Amazon even has free apps of the day.....( they are paid app free for that day) many might prefer Amazon over Google Play.
I think they jumped the shark complaining about the app store.

Have to wait and see. Just because you sue someone doesn't mean you're right or that you'll win. PA, please keep us updated as more information comes to light.

Lol this just shows how desperate Microsoft and. Nokia are and the others like oracle etc are involved because they have lost to Google already...come on seriously your suing for what you and others are doing...iOS is packaged with apples services, bb10 is packaged with bb services, wp8 is packaged with Microsoft we ices and android is packaged with googles services...you claim android locks you into googles services when its the only is that allows you to select other services as default hell if it locked people into Google then how can amazon fire or Facebook home exist...there's only 1 reason why microsoft are doing this because there is no YouTube and gmail etc app on wp8... This looks like probably the easiest lawsuit Google will have to defend themselves against cause there's just too many ways for Google to show android doesn't lock anyone down but actually gives the most option of any os out there.

What to say.. despicable, hypocritical, and pathetic beyond belief.
Just how low can they go?

Seems like a lot of the people don't understand the historical context for this complaint. Before you continue to bash Microsoft for this, go look up what the EU did to Microsoft when it was including Internet Explorer with its Windows machines back in the day. I didn't agree with that decision then, and I don't agree with this complaint now. But in Microsoft's mind, I can understand why they feel that the decision against them set a precedent that they now want to force others to adhere to as well.
68. darac (Posts: 2156; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
Microsoft got fined by EU because they signed an agreement prior to release, and then failed to follow it in the actual product.

Android = Google Owned
Google Services = Google Owned
So how is packing their own products into a product they own a crime?
Microsoft is just being a pathetic p***y as usual...Trying to act like they're a big deal to the public while being absolute cowards behind the scenes.

Please, whatever judge gets this, throw it out. Don't let it go any further. All these lawsuit only hurt the consumer in the end.

Google is using its Android mobile operating system as a Trojan Horse to deceive partners, monopolize the mobile marketplace, and control consumer data, said Thomas Vinje, Brussels-based counsel to the FairSearch coalition. We are asking the Commission to move quickly and decisively to protect competition and innovation in this critical market Failure to act i1l only embolden Google to repeat its desktop abuses of dominance as consumers increasingly turn to a mobile platform dominated by Google Android operating system.
Google achieved its dominance in the smartphone operating system market by giving Android to device-makers for free. But in reality, Android phone makers who want to include must-have Google apps such as Maps, YouTube or Play are required to we-load an entire suite of Google mobile services and to give them prominent default placement on the phone, the complaint says. This disadvantages other providers, and puts Google Android in control of consumer data on a majority of smartphones shipped today.
82. MorePhonesThanNeeded (Posts: 645; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
How many different search engine choices do you have on your W8 Nokia phone? Probably just Bing and Yahoo and possibly Google...what other search engines are actually readily selectable on the phone? Google achieved dominance because Android OS is free and doesn't cost the OEM much and they can reskin it differentiating it from the other Android OEM's efforts. Android OS is versatile enough to go even on low end phones so there was an Android phone for every level. Plus each Android OEM started to output great devices because of competition with Apple and look where we stand now, GS3 is the best selling Android phone period, Samsung is raking in profits because they give people what they want a great device.
MS complaining because they screwed up in the mobile space at it's infancy with it's crappy WinMo and it's uselessness, now they trying to get in but problem is Android and iOS have solidified their positions and BB is floundering but there are other OS's still out in the wild that have more market share than W8.
Can't fight fair in the market, so lets fight in court because we can't actually compete. If Google was blocking Youtube access on MS OS's then that was bad on Google, but no one has heard the truth and it could have been MS doing the blocking themselves just to create a story where there is none. Business is business and MS ain't no fair play company and never have been and that is fact. No company is clean of bad deeds, but MS is the biggest of the big when it comes to trying to lie cheat and steal to remain tops.

Microsoft is one of the biggest examples I can think of how the mighty has fallen. They ran sh*t in the '90s & early 2000s, got complacent, stopped innovating, & fell off. Now, they're watching from behind with jealousy & envy. Haters. I've got one thing to say to you, Microsoft. U MAD, BRO? Clearly.

I'm glad that someone is here to take out a company who is bundling apps with its OS.
It's like that Internet Explorer thing all over again. Oh wait. Microsoft is suing?
One word: irony.

stop being bitchy and butthurt Google has been bitchy with their products i.e. maps and youtube and s**t with other OS's for example the wp browser wasn't compaitble with these products because of it's different base and in a few days when the news went public it was magically working again
