Microsoft CEO says some Nokia X devices will be revamped to Windows Phone ones

0. phoneArena 17 Jul 2014, 08:49 posted on

There are lot of news coming from Redmond today. For starters, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's not-so-pleasant disclosure that the company will give the pink slips to roughly 18,000 workers (12,500 of which are former Nokia employees)...

Elop Ruined Nokia.:(
Without him Symbian would've been in place of Android.

Symbian is in its dead end when Elop came in. Symbian's architecture is not competitive enough to be in par with iOS. Enough with the Elop thing, past is past.

True, Symbian was dead even before Elop come in!

No it wouldn't, it was in decline. Nevertheless, it would be much higher, than WP...

PS. I'am saying this as a Nokia, and Symbian fan - still use it as my main device.

higher than wp? no. It that was the case symbian would have never fallen in the first place.

Symbian had it's own struggles and internal battles long before Elop, to the point that when they tried to license and sell it, nobody wanted it, including samsung and cisco.

Meego is another story too. But in the end Symbians code was not the 'future'.

I'm a Nokia fan, but I'll just say it, Symbian was a laggy, outdated, slow and boring piece of sh*t called an operating system. The lazy work of Symbian developers in 2009 and 2010 ruined Nokia. Nokia couldn't understand what the path forward was, i.e. SMARTPHONES. Hence, it had to hire someone who was willing to take risks, and they did that by hiring Elop. WP at that time was a fresh and modern looking UI that could really be called a smartphone OS. That was the best option at that point in time. For me, it was a great decision. Just chugging along with the crowd is something Nokia had never done before, and they didn't want to do it then. They tried something different, and with MS pumping in money, they released some brilliant phones. Unfortunately, they were late to the game. Had they adopted WP in 2010 itself when it was brand new and they still were making profits and had marketshare, maybe their condition wouldn't have been so bad today. Stop blaming Elop. Remember, it wasn't only his decision to go WP, the entire board and shareholders voted on it. Stop cribbing about it now. You cant change the past.

Rubbish outdated Cpu, was used, that's why.

HTC and IPhone's were using 256ram and 400ghz Cpu, while Nokia was 128mb Ram, and 266ghz Cpu.

Go to Gsmarena, it states there.

Again it was not Elop's decision to use outdated hardware.

At the time Symbian could run on the hardware, apps however...Symbian failed to see the vision that iPhone had, apps apps apps apps, and selling your data to offer you free services.

If Google services are crap then why is the majority of the world using them now? Its not like Microsoft wasn't in the same countries as Google.
If Android is crap then why would Microsoft try to run with it in the first place? Google is only crap to you and your first love with Microsoft.

in some countries Bing maps only shows one road or two , compare that with Google maps , and you can see why MS is not fit for mobile

When something is free, the masses will use.

I rely on google, for lots of things, at the same time i rely on my MS services more. Google maps here in my state have failed me more than once on my droid devices, where here drive and bing did not.

I cannot speak for other countries, but i have to have google for my job, and every day i do, i am glad that MS has become my go to services and devices.

Not to mention that my 365 account just gave me 5tb of could space (1tb per user).

Let's hope they refresh the current X line as well. Then it would be a matter of time that we see dual booting on them.

Really.enough was enough.Nokia x series was only going to cannibalize lumia 5xx series anyway.

The original Nokia X wasn't going to cannibalize anything. The specs were the lowest of the low. Dual core 1ghz cortex-A5 CPU is lower then even WP can or will support (A7). Not to mention the screen was poor. A 3mp camera without a flash to take the best that it cannot take. Who ever designed it should be fired. But I guess we can't fire Microsoft.

Good. Microsoft was going to give Android a bad name with the Nokia X series, it was terrible. Next time, don't give us a half-assed fork between Android and WP without Google Play Services.
