unlocked phones should cost less, I buy locked and used phones for a good price on ebay then an $3 unlock code lol

As soon as I saw the price tag I thought of the same thing. Better to get a GSM version of the S3 and unlock if it already isn't.

can u pls tell what happens to the person who breaks the contract.. i would also like to get a locked phone and get it unlocked elsewhere..

You would have to pay the ETF for the carrier which is usually a couple hundred dollars and then get a code to get it unlocked which also costs money though not much.
If you want another GSM phone, say you have an SGS2 on AT&T and don't want to use it even when the contract is broken or has ended, it's best to look on ebay or sites like that. You HAVE to look at the bands the phone uses, however, because if you want 4G or LTE connectivity on a certain network the bands have to match the bands used by the carrier.

That I'm not sure about. I've stayed away from contracts for my mobile services.
