I agree completely. I use a case and couldn't care less about the plastic body on my Note II. Take the $ that would go into a metal body and put it into a better camera sensor or OIS (stills and video) or HD audio. The plastic body with swappable battery and SD memory works just fine. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

HTC One owners will learn that metal phones have more cons than pros.

The One Pro is it looks better.
Cons: scratching, dents, conducts heat, unibody only, weighs more, makes the wifi/cell radio perform worse etc.

Samsung the 1 con of polycarb is it can look cheap. But it won't dent, conduct electricy, block wiki/service radio and it will be much harder to scratch. It also allows for remvoeable back so you can have removeable battery and micro sd.

Do you have proof of the radio performance even though in comparison tests the HTC One had better call quality? And the pro to aluminum is durability. The only I'm choosing HTC this time is because i don't want to deal with AMOLED. i would suggest you read the reviews before you decide to make up facts

I don't use any cover and would prefer not too. I want to keep the look of my phone the way the manufacture designed not some cheap feeling cover or overly bulky cover that leaves no style. Simply put there's no reason other than SS being cheap for the finish of their phones... Spin it how you like but shows you will look blind to this fault and are no different than a sheep

The s3 actually cost Samsung more to manufacturer than the iPhone 5 so its not about being cheap.

I would imagine a compromise of plastic and metal would be good. What I still appreciate about Samsung phones so much is the SD card and removable battery: that does not seem to wow people at purchase time, but when you suddenly want to throw in a whole bunch of new battery slurping HD movies to watch on a boring 12 hour plane flight, you will appreciate those features. Samsung needs to find a way to give people both, and spend some of its marketing dollars on reminding people on how useful those features actually are.

I agree with that feature being a great one... And spending marketing dollars to remind people of those features

its better to be late/delay than Old Same Ugly Looks. if S4 is metallic it already wipe the floor on smartphone. DESIGN IS A DRAWBACK
and LOL removable battery? there are so many portable battery charger around the world.

I'd rather take a min to replace my battery than carry a fat power station and wait for hours for my phone to charge.

S4 (international) owners will be enjoying a more powerful phone. Just go buy an HTC One, I wish you luck selling it after people realize that its not a good phone.

Sorry Im not gonna buy a phone from a bashing and falling down company. Ive been thinking of S4 and when the features and specs shows, definitely S4, but when they show the device, ok no thanks i rather get the outdated phone but tough phone the XZ!!

btw even the international model will be the S600 version, not the exynos, the exynos will launch in some asian markets, but most of the world will get the Snapdragon version. This processor war has to end, all smartphones are smooth! (But on every hands on i saw there was some lag in the S4 despite the overclocked processor when compared to the One witch didn't lag!)

The Vapor MG on the surface seems pretty good at scratches and heat dissipation. So if they go metal, they should go with that. Surface is kind of heavy though so I think the Xperia Z style with glass is the best.

The iPad 3 and apparently the HTC One get pretty hot. And the iPhone 5 and HTC One dent and scratch too easily.

Why not just sell a metal back cover replacement?

It sounds easier to do than it is to make. Also metal won't bend a little like polycarb on the s4 and it would damage the back if you were not 100% careful.

Everybody is always complaining about the quality of Samsung phones but at the same time who keeps their phone naked? The average person always has a case on their phone so the phones actual build materials are always covered up by a phone case. I'm not saying Samsung shouldn't step away from the plastic but its really not as important as everyone makes it seem.

Actually it is!!! my s3 is the first phone I ever bought and actually though wow I need to get a case for this POS so I did AND IT STILL BROKE! and the back of the phone scratches way too easy. All my other phones I had for years naked and never broke!

Everyone I know that has a phone has a case over it. To be honest, I don't know anyone who doesn't use a phone case.

Finally! Samsung needs to know that plastic is not attractive at all, if they keep using plastic on their high-end phones, they will always remain the name called "CHEAP" forever.

They need premium materials to compete with its competitors, just think about it, HTC One is using metal, and Sony Xperia Z is using glass, and Samsung's Galaxy S4 is just using plastic. So, now Samsung finally think about metal? Good news! Good news!
