Messaging oriented Samsung Character SCH-R640 is bound for the US; no takers yet

Appearing on Samsung’s web site very recently, we find the messaging oriented Samsung Character SCH-R640 being shown off in full form – albeit, it doesn’t appear that anyone is selling the handset just yet.
Indeed it’s coming to the US, but so far there is no word as to which specific network carrier will be selling the handset.Nevertheless, this landscape sliding QWERTY device features a 2.8” touchscreen, 1.3-megapixel camera, microSD card slot, music player, and runs the TouchWiz Lite UI. Naturally, it’s primarily targeted for those who have a flare with text messaging, and at the same time, we’re sure that it’s going to be priced super inexpensively – and it wouldn’t surprise us to find it as a prepaid option.
In any event, this handset will more than likely fit perfectly the teens and tweens segment with its broad range of messaging and social networking aspects.

Seems like a phone that MetroPCS or Cricket would carry. I wouldn't be surprised to see it on both carriers as the Messager 4.

It definitely looks like a phone that Sprint has carried recently. Maybe it's heading there as an update to it. Otherwise, I'm betting on a prepaid carrier.
