Merrill Lynch says HTC One will be released in four markets this month

0. phoneArena 18 Mar 2013, 07:57 posted on

The world's largest brokerage firm might have its ear to the ground in more places than other firms, so when it says that HTC still plans on a limited March launch of the HTC One, you need to sit up and take notice; Merrill does acknowledge that a component shortage is hitting the Taiwan based manufacturer at exactly the wrong time...

There's nothing unique about it. "Ultrapixel" is just a marketing term, much like Apple used for their "Retina" display. It's simply a lower pixel-count sensor, which inherently has better low-light performance due to the pixels being larger and being able to capture more light.

Meh. IMO, missing out on VZW is cutting off 1/4 of the early sales opportunity. Not the best way to launch your flagship phone. Especially when the Sammy juggernaut is going to steamroller you in 3 months time.

Excited to Purchase the htc One and not worrying if it'll be runaway success or not, I will still enjoy the phone as much as my GS3 and Nexus4.

Again, not a different kind of camera at all. "Ultrapixel" is just a marketing term, much like Apple used for their "Retina" display. It's simply a lower pixel-count sensor, which inherently has better low-light performance due to the pixels being larger and being able to capture more light.

4MP is incorrect, the term should still be ultrapixels... it's very good considering that it's 4MP. Imagine they use the same tech with 8MP... Wow...

I thought megapixels was the term used to refer to how many pixels there were, and ultrapixels refers to how large the pixels are? The main marketing for Ultrapixels was that they were larger and let in more light. They were referring to the pixels themselves.

So technically, it should be a 4 MP camera that uses Ultrapixels. It has all the pixels of a 4 MP camera, just larger.

I think they should of called it 4UP or something. Cause just stating 4MP a lot of people would be confused and think that One's camera is inferior to all the camera technology out there on phones so far.

We need it desperately in India..and if its within rs.39000 ..
It will be a winner..
Personally I would prefer htc one to s4..
Coz s4 is not a revolutionary device..its more evolutionary

I'm confused by the HTC announcement of delays in my home market (UK). I got my one on the original release date of the 15th and when I went into my local phones 4 u the other day the sales rep told me they're getting a steady supply in. Very low numbers but still getting them in.

"Last year, the HTC One X was released to great fanfare and almost immediately there were complaints about the short battery life, overheating of the device, a yellow spot on the display, Wi-Fi connectivity problems and more"

Don't worry, if there is one thing you can always count on it is HTC's extremely bad quality control. Everytime someone credits HTC with great build quality I always get a laugh.

I'll add to the list of HTC One X problems. Phone didn't always recognize being plugged into the electrical outlet, didn't receive all notifications from the notification shade, loose screen, loose camera back cover and much much more. The HTC 8x had dust, dead pixels, and loose volume rockers.

The sad part is, I might just go through with all this crap again because I told myself I would keep an open mind and try everything before I decide.

heard so much bad comments about HTC phone from friends; bad build, bad battery, bad screen, yada yada yada... but, yet, i still decided to put a feet into the pool (instead of jumping both foot in). i bought HTC Butterfly while still keeping iPhone 5.
Well, I just love my Butterfly so far, have been using it for 2 months, now can't let it off my hands. no battery problem, no screen problems.... ect ect.. maybe I'm the lucky one.

I'll do the same again when the HTC One release. keep the HTC Butterfly and iPhone 5 while getting HTC One. just in case HTC One upset me.
