Meizu MX5 to be announced on June 30, here's what to expect

The Meizu MX4 and MX4 Pro are, by no means outdated or anything, but the China-based manufacturer behind these handsets is seemingly poised to unveil its next flagship device. Indeed, the Meixu MX5 is just around the corner - it was just announced that handset will be officially unveiled on June 30 in China.

Judging from the announcement teaser (that nonchalantly pays homage to the 1987 movie classic Full Metal Jacket), the MX5 will most likely employ an ample amount of metal in its build, which certainly falls in line with certain rumors we've previously heard. Certainly, this will be a welcome addition for Meizu's portfolio, which features no metal smartphones whatsoever.

As far as the internal specs of the device are concerned, we have one too many reasons to get mildly excited, since the MX5 might turn out to be a rather interesting phone. A MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) chipset, 3GB of RAM, and a 1080p, 5.5-inch display are said to be part of the specs sheet. According to other rumors, the phone could boast a beastly Samsung-made Exynos 7420 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and a 5.5" Quad HD display.

The camera is also wildly-rumored to be of a crazy-high resolution - a 41MP Nokia-made camera sensor might be making the rounds in the MX5. After all, Nokia and Meizu have been fiercely rumored to be collaborating on something for a long time now - could it be the camera unit for the MX5?

We'll find out on June 30.
