Meet the toughest iPhone 5 cases money can buy

As many would agree, the iPhone 5 is a beautiful, well-crafted smartphone. But at the same time, its lightweight aluminum body may easily bend or scratch if the handset is not handled with care. That explains why there's plenty of protective iPhone 5 cases on the market, ranging from the sleek and barely noticeable, to the tough and extremely durable. This post is about the latter kind. After doing a little digging, we came up with a pretty solid selection listing the most damage-resistant iPhone 5 cases available on the market. Whether it is shock, dust, dirt, or water resistance on top of your priority list, chances are you'll find the right case among the ones we've picked...

Some looks lovely and some are very ugly.

The orange lifreproof fre case is pathetic and 99% unlikely to ever be seen used by an iPhone owner....

I have seen girls slap on a big doraemon or minion case, or cases which makes the phone twice as bulky with ears or something.
But if you need such a case for daily use, you must be pathetic enough to break your phones so frequently that you require an armor for it... It would be a different story if you are going for a hiking or outdoor adventure though.

Pathetic? Aren't you a gem. I bought the 3gs in Fall 2010 and upgraded to the 5 in Spring 2013 and had never damaged either until a couple weeks ago. I chose cases by how they looked as long as they were fairly sturdy, and used stick-on screen protectors. I dropped the 3gs twice, the 5 maybe once until a few months ago, when I started dropping all kinds of things. I was dropping my 5 often, but its' case protected it until I dropped it hard three weeks ago, face-down, shattering the glass - thankfully held together by the screen protector. Replacing it cost about $90, which was still much less than other local repair shops, especially the Apple store. I'm switching to a tough case now until/if I stop dropping stuff.

Spigen makes the best looking cases; they actually improve the look of the phone.

One of my favorite rugged cases is the Ballistic HC case. I have always had better luck with Ballistic rather than with Otterbox who I find to make a cheaper cases with less durability. Of course I have tried Waterproof cases but I think that even though it has a guarantee I don;t want my phone to have the risk of drowning and being useless. I found a good review of the Ballistic case I have here iphantastic(dotcom)/agf-ballistic-hc-rugged-shell-case/
