"Many current iPhone users intend to buy the next model, despite having never seen it"
Because they buy the brand.

and they still don't know that iOS is really much much more complicated than Android....just try to find any plumber and then copy his address into maps..... in android in a few seconds....in iOS a minute??

I posted this in my post which "didn't meet the duscussion rules" earlier. Looks like you got thumbed down as well.
Some people are so hopelessly lost that they keep on ignoring the facts.

bro, you cant say anything against a certain company here on PA. because that does not meet discussion rules and you will surely be recieving a warning for that.

is not the we are ignoring is just that we dont care.. at least I dont care...
80. ilia1986 (unregistered)
You don't care about facts? That's sad..
82. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
I just want a phone that works for me and the iphone does. that fact is more important to me.. and the only one thta matters... I also drink bottled water which is bad too but I still do .. dont want to be sarcastic just trying to prove a point

"I just want a phone that works for me and the iphone does."
And that's mean other phones doesn't work only iPhone? :)
89. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)

93. ilia1986 (unregistered)
Which phone did you get?
88. ilia1986 (unregistered)
Okay. And why wouldn't an Android phone just work for you?

Only ones ignoring facts are fandroids. iPhone has the best sales, best customer satisfaction, lowest failure rates, lowest return rate and you guys can't accept that it's a great phone and people love it for legitimate reasons.

some people are also into s&m. personally I dont like being told what I can and can't do. some people like you do. probably why you still live with mommy eh?
104. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 5498; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
I won't buy any device just because it has the best sales! I need device not rating of sales!

You can watch these videos and still have your own opinion, no one forces you. And even if these videos are biased, they still talks about the facts and facts are just facts, they can't be biased!

At least GS3 fans are waiting on the specs before making a decision. I guess the "sheep" comparison is accurate. I think its funny that Siri wasn't on the list of reasons people like iPhone.
6. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
i don't think that's true at all. many people have had high expectations for a long time.
15. paulyyd (Posts: 338; Member since: 08 Jan 2011)
you're wrong there chad. I've seen people here comment countless times about how they're going to buy the s3, like months before its even out lol if you go to the one x review on here a bunch of fan boys bragging how they don't care whats in the one x and they're going to get the s3 regardless lol fanboyssss
3. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
what was this for? like seriously? xD
4. ardent1 (Posts: 2000; Member since: 16 Apr 2011)
The iPhone out-sells the top droid smartphones for the top 3 US carriers, respectively based on the latest data.
5. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
ahem, it's An-droid. Droids are Verizon exclusive devices made by Motorola, HTC & Samsung.
32. Veigald (Posts: 290; Member since: 13 Jan 2012)
Nope. You have to separate between Droid and droid, where Droid is a branded Android phone, and droid is slang for any Android phone.
76. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
that's the silliest thing i've ever heard. xD
37. ardent1 (Posts: 2000; Member since: 16 Apr 2011)
Just to satisfy KingKurogiii desire for idle pedantry (thus giving me a second chance to state the obvious): Apple iPhones is currently outselling android devices for the top 3 carriers, respectively -- that is for two consecutive fiscal quarters to date.
To be clear, I referenced the top 3 carriers meaning I was addressing smartphones with "droid" in the name.
77. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
i don't care, there's only one carrier with "Droid" in the name. the rest have phones that run Android. when you confuse the two it only makes you look ignorant to people that know better and you don't want that do you?
101. ardent1 (Posts: 2000; Member since: 16 Apr 2011)
The rest of us understand droid is a slang for android. Enough said.
103. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5711; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
yeah, how do you think i called you on your ignorance? xD
70. Whateverman (Posts: 3251; Member since: 17 May 2009)
What does that have to do with anything?
7. Lift_Off (Posts: 152; Member since: 04 Apr 2012)
Pretty stoked to see what Apple is going to do. The jump from the 3gs to the 4 was pretty significant. Hopefully they have some cool new features and a great design.

A liquid metal unibody would be sweet. I'm expecting LTE for sure. I'm a little worried about battery life.

I will name my iPhone 5 Liquid Snake.

If you're worried about battery life get the DROID RAZR MAXX. It's proven to have amazing battery life and already has Lte. Plus it's really durable.

I usually skip a generation and makes me less tied to a specific brand. buying the next model of next after next is kinda waste of money for me.
11. Mark.J.Linskiy (unregistered)
Maybe Apple fans are just easily impressed and don't need much change ("improvements") to buy the next generation product?
12. bvalde09 (Posts: 181; Member since: 22 Nov 2011)
As a formal Iphone User.
Im saving my money for the next GS3 or Iphone 5. But lets face it is all about the specs. As I said before I had every iphone and the 4s is my back up phone and I will sell both of them is the GS3 or iphone 5 meet the expecations. I dont think people are sheeps but all apple users are having huge expectation and I think apple should and will deliver.
Now Im not an appleboy nor an Fandroid. Im a regular guy who enjoy tech. We all could agree that no matter which OS (Windows, IOS, Android, RIM) Phone manufacturers should deliver what we as a customer required. Battery Life top priority
71. nexumus (Posts: 19; Member since: 09 Apr 2012)
Why is it all about specs? Specs are only as good as the software that uses it. Take the fastest piece of computing hardware in the world with no software, and know what you have? A few pounds of plastic, silicone, and scrap metal. iOS ftw.
105. bvalde09 (Posts: 181; Member since: 22 Nov 2011)
I think Apple has a good software. It might not be the best software due to some lack of freedom but it is very good OS. It might not be as good as others but it still a good OS. I do agree that without no software there is no point on the specs but at this time Android Windows and IOS have good enough software to make it happen. RIm is the only one that I feel is two steps behind.

They are prisoners. There's no choice for them. Buying the next model blindly with the hope it will be at least with the features that are already on Android phones. But the next iPhones will be always outdated, with many missing technology improvements. They are life prisoners
22. BattleBrat (Posts: 1432; Member since: 26 Oct 2011)
It's the lack of freedom w/ iOS that bugs me, I just keep an iTouch around to play with, I'm gonna pick up an iPhone 5, but my RAZR will be keeping its service, my iPhone is gonna basically be a glorified iPod Touch....

Whats the name for this.... Begins with sh...

"It just works"
Yes, that is true most of the time. In every OS there are bugs, but the iOS users are trying to spread the myth of a perfect OS (there is no such thing). In general the things the OS offers work like i said most of the time, but it lacks functionality. Functionality that Android OS has out of the box and it just ... works :). And when i compared the SGS2 with 4s i really did not find one thing that could convince me to buy the iPhone in software terms(hardware also). I mean a smartphone from 2011 lacking some basic functions like fully functional BT and FS...
And the freedom with Android, the opportunities... it is way more fun and interesting.
I can say that with 4.0 Google got the UI just fine!
But i guess it is a personal choice for everyone and we all should respect that.
26. tiara6918 (Posts: 2027; Member since: 26 Apr 2012)
Peer pressure? This is exactly what's happening in my country(Philippines) right now. You can see that most smartphones here rather than the iPhone are blackberry. I don't understand why they keep on buying something that does not do anything but bbm (i'm not a hater of blackberry or anything,so please do not get offended if you read this). They're not even considering buying another brand because since they see other people using it, they'll just follow.
29. haikallp (Posts: 197; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
you're right.. i dont see anything special bout BB devices. It has nothing that stands out. Tell me something BB can do that iOS, Android or WP devices can't..
27. jjjsong (Posts: 74; Member since: 27 Dec 2011)
They don't really have other options to be honest.
Most iphone users have at least 1 or more paid apps (since most apps aren't free on iOS). And these apps only run on iOS, which only the iPhone(s) is using.
So if they want to upgrade, they only have 1 option, which is the new iPhone. So it became trivial and obvious what to buy next.
It basically came to: One already spent x amount of money on these apps and he's used to them already, why bother getting another OS and start over having the possibility of not having alternatives for the apps he's used to. So he'll buy the next iPhone, logical step.
28. haikallp (Posts: 197; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
These people are obviosuly ignorant. I have nothing against people who decide to buy the iPhone, but to say you're gonna buy the next iteration without knowing the specs or even seeing it yet is stupidity at its best. But this is true, there are alot of people who buy the iPhone for its brand, not for the phone itself, this is especially true to women (though not all women of course) because they don't really give a damn bout specs.

Interesting to see that the article consistently compares Apple and iOS to Android and Windows Phone, thus already seeing WP as the third player.
From a product point of view there's obviously no doubt that Apple has the best combination of design, usability and performance in their devices. Since all Apple products are basically high end, their users also never need to worry about specs etc; it is guaranteed from Apple's entire business philosophy that their products will be frontrunners when they are launched. And being the only manufacturer of their products makes them unique.
Nothing lasts forever though, and sooner or later Apple will also fall back. It remains to be seen if their product pipeline will remain as strong after Jobs' contribution to it is fading.
