Manual ICS download for the RAZR and RAZR MAXX now available

My box-stock RAZR handled the upgrade with no issues. I plugged the charger in before doing the update download, but otherwise, things went pretty straight-forward. Probably 1 hour start-to-finish, using my Comcast cable service for the download.

I really like the ICS implementation (thumbup).

I like ICS as well on my MAXX, but is anyone else annoyed by the new notifications bar? The icons are now SO TINY it is hard to see them without opening them up!

Also, I wish they made the camera app suck less, it is really disapointing, it takes about 5 seconds if not more to fully load the camera from the lockscreen.

The new stock keyboard is wonderful and more custimizable than before, which is a real plus. I can stop using 3rd party keyboards that lagg up.

On Motorola's website they had something about better battery %, but I'm still getting battery in intervals of 10 (ex 90, 80%) Is there a way to get the more accurate % on my BATTERY BASED phone? lolz

Either way, nice update Motorola, Google, and (maybe) Verizon.
I hope to get JB soon... or at least a port of that new search beast!

nope, don't have that problem. o:

yeah, i don't know why it takes longer from the lockscreen but i guess that's what JB is for.

the keyboard is fantastic, i've always liked Moto's Keyboards.

get this app called "Charge Bar" from the Market (seen in the picture from the link) it accurately shows your battery life and it adds more to the nice holo look.

I've heard reports that, once the update happens. The phone is laggy and a bit sluggish. And so far that's been fixed by just re-starting the phone once you get the update and all. And from there on should be okay.

yeah, of course it'll need time to settle because it's using a brand new kernel, your phone is going to be getting a little toasty writing those new files, that's why i suggested a wipe so it's easier for the phone.

I’m not sure how it runs with a straight upgrade, but I would backup just in case. I did mine the unofficial way and did something incredibly stupid in the process and had to wipe. :D It runs great now though. lol

I've notice that if you use another launcher like Nova, Apex or even LauncherPro, you can't add widgets from the app draw. You have to do the old "press and hold" on the homescreen, but you only see the icons with no discription. You can see the description when you touch the screen and just scroll to deselect. So hopefully that will be fixed soon.

if you're rooted launchers like NOVA Launcher will give you the ability to add Widgets to the Drawer with the Thumbnails and everything and like usual some Moto Widgets don't work properly with third party launchers like the Favorite Contacts Widget being the most notable. you can still interact with it in the 4x1 scale but you can't expand it like you can in the stock launcher. lack of the API support i imagine.

I haven't looked for a root with ICS, but with Gingerbread it was such a pain I had pretty much given up on it. Who knows, maybe I'll give it another shot.

the only bug i've noticed in the leaked build of .211 is that the notification light has a mind of it's own. it blinks when i don't have notifications sometimes but other than that it's perfect. o:

Just one. Thats because its their current model the 4s.

That would mean that Android is actually keeping more of their models up to date than Apple is... Dont forget that each individual models get updates too while not a full blown OS upgrade. They still provide updates most of the time.

Mmmm. Any excuses now?

Google and Android are doing nothing(unless it's the nexus line), it's the manufacturers that have the say in it all. Which the manufactuerers are getting better with keeping their devices updated, but Apple so far is still better for support as far as updates go. When Apple tells people an update is coming in June, it comes in June. When Motorola and Verizon say ICS is coming to the Razr in...May? It comes late june/july.

But I pushed the update awhile ago to our stores Razr. It's pretty awesome!

Nope (dont use twitter), but I did have to go through my contacts again, it changed all the Sync settings!
So i just went through all the stuff.... its confusing with Backup Assistant, Google, Skype, and so on!
