One thing that amazes me is how quick everyone is to jump on Verizon on every decision that they make that may not be the "popular" vote to everyone. Test Drive & New Every Two credits are promotional courtesy's that Verizon offers and just like any other company from McDonalds to Target, they have the right to discontinue any promotion at any time as they choose. Discounts or Promotions are never guaranteed but yet people come to expect that they are OWED this and threatening to go to another carrier is going to make Verizon shake in fear. Every single company has made a decision at one point or another to discontinue a promotion and look at that, the world still spins. Personally I think that its kinda sad that someone would really say "oh they are going to lose so many customers because of this".... lets think about this.... Obviously getting rid of Test Drive is not really the issue because lets be honest, if you're even qualify for Test drive then you have been a customer for under 30 days and you're already leaving anyway so that doesn't really matter.... plus you always have 30 days for the Worry Free Guarantee so really its the difference of VZW just paying for your usage and lets be honest - is it that big of a deal to PAY FOR WHAT YOU USED?????? As far as New Every Two - I can understand that someone might be a little upset over the $100 to $50 because $50 is a nice discount....but not enough to throw everything away. $50 to $35.............$15 people, it is a difference of 15 freakin dollars!!! If you are willing to disconnect over not getting an additional $15 off of a phone then you really need to go to another carrier.... another carrier that will probably do something to make you cry then you'll go to another carrier till finally you won't have anyone left to go to and you will have ended up paying so many termination fees that you will have ended up spending MORE because of your temper tantrum then if you had just sucked it up and rolled with the changes. Customers anymore have NO LOYALTY and are unbelievably selfish. If you choose a carrier based on what they are going to hand out to you for nothing then go ahead - GO!! I have used AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint & Verizon and without a doubt Verizon has given me the best signal than any of the others... ofcourse that is where I live but because of the SIGNAL that I get - I will stay with Verizon. Not because of freebies. Not because of the newest toys but because of being able to USE WHAT I PAY FOR.... novel concept I know...... ....I must be crazy!!!

WFG and test drive are 2 different things. the WFG will continue to be the same. you still have 30 days, you just dont get credited for usage or activation fees anymore. you still have 30 day return exchange policy. as for the ne2 credit. a lot of people used half of it or wouldnt make it until they were eligible to use it anyways. I dont see these changed affecting verizon wireless too much. 90% of upgrades i do either use only half there ne2 credit or dont make it 2 years until there eligible for it anyways.

Good, now with the extra money, could you push the effing apps and bug updates for my damn phone and cooperate with your carried phone companies!? IM TIRED OF THIS NICKLE AND DIMING!

Would anyone like to help me understand this...I'm eligible for my NE2 upgrade of $100. From what I read I'm a little confused in thinking that my NE2 will be dropped to a total of $50 if I choose not use it before the February 15th. And if I take advantage of this will my next NE2 upgrade be $50 since I am renewing the contract?

I understand that if Verizon changes their contract terms, I can leave without paying the early termination fee. Is this correct and does this qualify as a change? It seems to me it does.

If they did change the terms that would be the case but they won't with existing customers. That's why the article is encouraging those of switching to do it before the changes take place. You'll be grandfathered in most likely, then once you renew you'll be on the new terms. Same thing happened with AT&T switched to pro-rated ETF's. Everyone with contracts before it was implemented still pay flat rates until they renew.

I don't think it's the biggest of deals. I sell so many people LG VX5500s and Moto W385s on their $100 NE2 credits that dropping it down to $35 won't be the end of the world.

Well it was nice while it lasted. However I just spoke with a woman in the call center about me being eligible for upgrade, and she said I would be paying $20 to upgrade anyway. So that's essentially only giving me $30 toward a new phone. If anything, the charge to upgrade is something that is TOTALLY ludicrous! "Here, we want to charge you to get a better phone, and continue to be a customer with us!" Nickels and dimes, nickels and dimes!

the only time that you would ever be charged for an upgrade is if you're upgrading early. If you sign a 2-yr contract, that means you are intending to stay with the phone and the contract for 2 years - so if you want to be impatient and do it after one year then you get charged the $20 processing fee which would mean that you do not qualify for the new every two credit anyways

I'm with alltel, or at least my UI and plan are still Alltel....they still did the money off upgrades. I guess you can just add this to another reason i won't be part of that 82 million subscribers list. AT&T here i come.....

Alltel?? really?? maybe you didn't get the memo that you're ALREADY a part of the 80million subscribers

I am currently a (relatively happy) Sprint customer. Sprint DOES offer discounts to renewing customers, assuming you sign a new contract . . . or at least when I signed my contract in April 2007. After 1 year I believe I was eligible for $75 toward a new phone. After 2 years (or even now apparently, a few months early) it will be $150 with a 2-year contract or $50 for a 1-year contract. Just checked today and with a 2-year contract it looks like I would be able to get a new phone for the same price as a new customer (after additional mail-in rebate) . . . pity their phones aren't a little more exciting right now. I reckon I oughta hold out for the Pre--not sure I want that much phone, though. Was a new contract required with Verizon's New Every Two plan?

I was going to most likely renew for my NE2 in July, but now I'll probably just wait til my contract expires in November and switch back to AT&T.
