Scalpers in mainland China and Hong Kong have been buying the Apple iPhone 4S online or at a store, and then jacking up the price to desperate buyers; Apple has instituted a lottery system for its Hong Kong online store that prevents scalpers from using automatic services to reserve copies of the phone...

If you read my response earlier, it's exactly what I suggested:

"I would use a lottery system if can prevent fights -- I understand people will sell their claims but that is no different than people standing in line to sell the physical units after purchase. In America, the Apple iFanatics are loyal and peaceful, calmly waiting for their new iToys. However, that has not been the case in China due to the huge profits from reselling or scalping new Apple products.
